The Coming of the True Light

Updated on December 22, 2018

The Coming of the True Light

“The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.”

John 1:9

What Christmas is all about ?

Christmas is just around the corner, as we hear different Christmas songs, we hear some people’s concepts of what Christmas is all about. To many, Christmas is all about romance. Songs like “You’re All I Want For Christmas,” “Blue Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Christmas Won’t Be The Same Without You” remind us of one’s longing to be with his beloved this Christmas season.. Still to many it is about sharing and giving love as reminded by Michael Jackson’s Christmas hit song “Give Love On Christmas Day.” To some still, it is about merrymaking in the snow as reminded by the songs like “Sleighride,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and "Winter Wonderland."

These things are not bad but these songs do not reveal the true essence of Christmas. Christmas is about the coming of the true light of the world, Jesus the Christ.

There is so much darkness in the world today. Look everywhere around you. Look all over the world, there is so much chaos. There is so much chaos in the economics and in the politics. Nations are racing for nuclear sovereignty, wars and rumors of wars are everywhere, in Africa, in the Middle East and in Asia. There is a constant threat of nuclear war.

In the economics, nations economies are tumbling down. Even in the Eurozone there is a shaking in the economics. People are in chaos rallying against the alleged cuts in their unemployment benefits.

In East Asia, North Korea is threatening South Korea for war. Violence and terrorism is everywhere. Catastrophic disasters such as powerful hurricanes, wildfires which have gone out of control, strong earhquakes, volcanic erruptions have dominated our headlines. We are indeed in the Noah days when violence and wickedness is at its height. There is so much lawlessness everywhere. There is so much darkness in the world, is there still a reason to celebrate Christmas ?

Though the world is in darkness, the light of Christ continue to shine. Nothing, no force in the universe can ever extinguish the light of Christ. The light of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ can never be extinguished by the forces and powers of darkness.. The light of Christ will continue to bring salvation and glory to the darkness of men’s lives. The light of Christ will continue to bring revelation about God’s abounding mercy and love to the strife-filled lives of people of the world. As the light of the sun gives beauty to the earth, the light of Christ will continue to bring beauty and meaning to our lives.

The light of Christ dispels all forms of darkness . It brings illumination to darkened minds and hearts. The light of Christ will continue to expose the evil and darkness of men’s minds. motives and intentions. As the sun’s light gives energy, the light of Christ will continue to energize its children to do exploits and marvelous deeds that will bring glory to God.

Though there is so much darkness in the world, for us Christians who experienced the light of Christ, there is still great reason to celebrate Christmas. The light of Christ that illumines our lives should continue to shine in our lives so that others who are still in darkness will come to the true understanding and knowledge of God.

The light of Christ will continue to live on through the years until eternity. It is the only hope of a dark and dying world.
