Numerology is not a Branch of Astrology

Astrology and Numerology are very popular subjects all the over the world. Hundreds of thousands of articles have been published and being published on these two subjects in Newspapers, magazines and on the websites.

Many people think that numerology is a branch of astrology. This is because most of the numerologists are basically astrologers. They always mix numerology with astrology. Most of the astrology websites and magazines also publish articles related to numerology. So no wonder that people are taking numerology as a branch of astrology.

But in fact numerology has nothing to do with astrology. These two are different sciences (or pseudo-sciences as many people think).

Astrology is based on the situations of the planets at the time of a person when he/she was born, his/her place of birth, zodiac signs etc. On the other hand, numerology is based purely on numbers. Moreover, while astrology requires accurate details of birth time, latitude longitude etc., on the other hand numerology requires just date of birth and name of the person for calculations.

So let us see the basic differences between Numerology and Astrology.

Numerology is based on Numbers, Astrology based on Planets

Numerology is based purely on Numbers and the number value of the letters in the names. On the other hand Astrology is based on the planets and their locations in the sky.

A numerologist doesn’t need the person’s birth time and birth place which are very important for an astrologer

A numerologist needs the person’s full Name as it was registered on the birth certificate and date of Birth for calculations while an astrologer needs Birth of date (DDMMYYYY), Place of Birth (altitude and latitude) and Time of Birth (Local Time) of the person. A numerologist doesn’t need the person’s birth time and birth place which are very important for an astrologer.

Numerologist has nothing to do with planets

The location of the planets at the time of birth of a person are very important for an astrologer for calculations. On the other hand a numerologist has nothing to do with planets.

In numerology, everything lies in numbers. So no planets are required for numerological calculations. (But on the other hand, astrology requires numbers for calculations).

Who influence human? Planets or Numbers?

Astrologers believe that the planets and there locations, their movements have influence on human being according to the person’s birth date, birth place and birth time, while numerologists believe that the numbers a person posses have an influence on the person. These numbers are derived from the person’s name and date of birth.

Pythagoras, the famous scientist, numerologist and the father of modern numerology once said, 'The Numbers Rule The Universe'.

12 Signs, 9 Personalities

For general use, astrology divides people into 12 groups according to their sun signs or moon signs. Numerology divides people in 9 groups according to their birth dates.

Predictions or Potentials: What is Important?

Astrology is mainly used for predictions while numerology is used to know a person, his like hoods, hist traits and his potentials. That’s why generally astrologers tell what will happen in coming days and years, while numerologists tell what the person should do at present.

Difference in using Astrology and Numerology

Numerology is very useful to know what you are and why you are here on the earth, what are your potentials, what you can do for yourself and others etc. Numerology is also useful to choose a baby name, a business name, a career, a spouse, a business partner, lucky numbers, Lucky colors etc., while astrology is useful for knowing your future.

Numerology is easy, Astrology complicated!

Astrology is a very complicated subject to study and understand, while Numerology is relatively easier. Anybody who has basic knowledge of mathematics can easily understand numerology while to understand astrology you need deeper knowledge and study.

Which One is Scientific?

Numerology seems to be more scientific than astrology as a person's numbers have attached to him/her for entire life. Every person listens his name from others again and again, and everybody knows what is his date of birth. So the vibrations of his numbers are always with him. On the other hand, the planets are very away from us and their influence on us is questionable. Astrology is proven false by scientific community, but yet numerology is not proven wrong.

Moreover, numerology is always open to new research, and many new things are added in numerology through research. More research is going on. On the other hand astrology is not open to new research and astrologers think that whatever was written by old age astrologers is the final thing. Moreover, the solutions astrologers give to their clients are full of rituals and unscientific things.

What about Accuracy?

As astrology is a very complicated subject, there are many chances of wrong calculations and the errors. That's why many of the predictions given by astrologers are failed. On the other hand as numerology doesn't require too many calculations and as the main purpose of numerology is not predictions, the chances of wrong calculations are very low.
