The Empath & Solitude

An empath is able to both sense and absorb the energy around them.

They are Clairsentient which stands for clear feeling which is the sense they use to pick up on signs in their environment. At times, if an empath has been around people for an extended period, their energy will become drained and they will be unable to use their gifts properly.

This is why solitude is so important for the empath.

They crave solitude because they crave their own energy. They naturally pick up on the energy of the people around them and if they aren't careful, they can lose themselves in that energy. An empath has a natural inclination towards helping people because they genuinely care about the well-beings of others. So they naturally give people their energy in order to heal.

Solitude helps the empath to re-calibrate their energy fields and tune into their own vibration.

Just as we all need food, water and shelter to survive, an empath also needs solitude. You need space to be in your thoughts and allow your body to rest. An empath needs to be in their own energy so that they always stay connected with their true selves. Being an empath means that you are wired to be more sensitive to the world around you.

By the word sensitive, I'm not necessarily referring to emotional sensitivity.

I'm referring more to energetically sensitive. They can pick up on subtle shifts in energy within their environment. Since they are natural healers, they may attract wounded people in their life. An empath will instinctively know how to heal other people because they can feel their pain. Because of this, it's vital to release any energy through solitude.

An empath is highly tuned to the energies around them and can sense vibrations that others can't.

Every time I think of what it's like to be an empath, I envision a doe, or female deer, in the forest. She can sense when a predator is near because she senses the energy shift from the predator approaching. Because of her finely tuned, instinctual gifts, she has the chance to run off and save herself before the predator approaches her. An empath has the same type of gift just in human form instead of animal.

For an empath, solitude is like a soothing balm for the soul.

Both necessary and healing. Empaths need space to clear out all the energy they've picked up throughout the day. If they don't do this, it can become harder to decipher which energy is theirs and which energy belongs to other people. When you are alone, you can really allow yourself to feel what's going on within you. You can quiet your mind and really sense what you're feeling.

If you're an empath and crave solitude frequently know that this is normal and healthy.

You act as an emotional and energetic sponge for the people and things around you. It's important to get some "you" time in order to clear out your energy field. During your solitude, try journaling or simply reflecting on what's going on inside of you. As an empath, you are naturally thoughtful and creative so get in touch with that side of yourself in order to cleanse your energetic field.

So, how do you feel about solitude as an empath?
