Is Love the Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse? (A Poem).

Updated on April 18, 2016

Just contemplate the mayhem Love has caused!

Could cuddly Cupid really be the Fifth Rider of the Apocalypse??

The Fearful Horsemen of Revelations
The Fearful Horsemen of Revelations

The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse

(The one we should fear the most).

"The Four were Red, Black, Pale and White

That rode to Judgment Day that night.

In order, white, red, black and pale,

The watching hordes began to wail.

First was Conquest, proud and tall,

Followed by War’s chilling pall.

Then gaunt Famine galloped free

The last steed, Death, for you and me.

But Revelation‘s tale was lies

A fifth rider haunts our skies

Who wounds and kills with scented kisses

An Apocalypse of hope and wishes.

No colors grace this rider’s mien,

He strikes before he can be seen

This hellion comes not from above,

…Foolish humans call him “Love.”

This is such a perfect topic! A beautiful well written poem! It sure does feel this is starting to happen now. :( The GOP are trying to interfere in the voting process and we see more earthquakes, famine. The cost of food is going up. There are *wars, rumor of wars*. I keep looking up and I am in a constant state of prayer! Amazing how those who wish not to believe, will soon see with their own eyes! :( Voted up and shared. I've got a sneaky feeling that Jo's reading of this subtle piece--tho legitimate enuff (and certainly interesting)--may have missed the sardonic, cynical, I'd-rather-be-sailing under-message of it all! Well bloody done!

Elusive Love...is that the one to fear or the one to embrace? It is scary to think of love as one to fear...a unique perspective here...linking love to the four horsemen of the Apocolypse!

      Voted up and interesting.

A worthy poem that rings a bell of truth. There is real love, and false love. It is hard to tell the difference until it is too late. GBY, and we cherish you.

Thanks Stars... just endured some "tough love," which is where the poem sprung from
