The Ghost That Walks Alone On Rock House Road At Night
The Rock House
The story of how rock house road got its name dates all the way back to the early 1800s. It is believed that a house made entirely out of rocks was built, in Blacksburg, SC, on a street that is now known as rock house road.
The Family That Lived There
According to the legend, in the early 1800s, a seemingly nice family lived in that Rock House on rock house road.
Although they were well respected among the other residents, they held a well kept secret and their greatest fear was that someone would discover it. They couldn't bare the shame.
You see, this family had a mentally challenged daughter, and because they were deeply ashamed of her, they kept her locked up in the cellar all day. But the family wasn't entirely heartless.
Every night, the father would unlock her cellar, hand her a lit candle, and let her walk around outside at night while the neighbors slept.
But one night, the little girl's candle blew out and she couldn't see to find her way home. She wondered all through the night, looking for her home, until she died.
She never found her way home. Not even in death. Some say that her ghost is still trying to find her way home.
The Ghost That Walks Alone
Many who have lived on rock house road, claim that if you held a candle up to your window on a stormy night, the little girl's face will appear.
It is believed that she wonders alone at night trying to find her way home.
