The HOLY SPIRIT : Another Teacher
The HOLY SPIRIT : Another Teacher
“All this I have spoken while still with you.But the counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everythingI have said to you. “
John 14:25
Atthis time Jesus was soon to be arrestedand be crucified on the cross. Jesus was givingwords of comfort to his disciples for he was soon to depart from them. Christ who will soon be crucified was the one giving comfort to His disciples instead of the disciples giving words of comfort to him.
Jesus comforts them by promising the coming of the “comforter”. This reveals much about the gravity of Jesus love for his disciples. Jesus pleaded the Fatherto send the Holy Spirit to be with his disciples when he wouldhave already left the earth to be with the Father. This love of Christ was given not only to those disciples but for all who will accept him as Saviour and Lord. The Holy Spirit indwells the person at the moment he accepted Christ as his/her personal Saviour and Lord.
Who is the Holy Spirit ?
He is another teacher.
The Holy Spirit is another teacher to guide and instruct believers about the truths of the Scriptures. JesusChrist is the disciple’sever infallible, ever perfect, and ever flawlessteacher. Jesus Christ is their first teacher of truth.
No man will ever learn anything aright unless it was taught by the Spirit. No one will ever learn great and deep spiritual truths unless it was taught by God through the working of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals to the believers hidden truths from the Word of God. No one can know JesusChrist personally unless the Holy Spirit reveals Christ to that person. We can only acknowledge the Lordship of Christ through the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit.
With the wisdom from the Holy Spirit, believers can well discern false doctrines, false teachers and even false Christians. We only understand great and deep truths from the Scriptures as they are revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also guides the Christians in the proper way of living the Christian life. The Holy Spirit admonishes the believers regarding holy and righteous living.
He is another advocate.
The Holy Spirit is an advocate of Jesus righteousness, of His Word, of our cause and labor for JesusChrist. He causes JesusChrist to be glorified in the hearts of the believers.Men will reject God’s truth until the Holy Spirit has illuminated it to them. He is an advocate of the truths of the Holy Bible. He is the one who convicts sinners about their sinfulness for He is an advocate of truth.
He is another comforter.
The Holy Spirit is our counselor and comforter during the times of our deepest trials. He strengthens our faith in times of life’s adversities. He gives us courage to face difficult circumstances of life. He helps us in our intercession during difficult circumstances of life. He uplifts our spirit during moments of depression. He renews our hope in God.
JesusChrist cares so much about his people. Jesus knows that the disciples are not capable of facing the world without him. That’s why he sent the Holy Spirit to them. Jesus must really have love us so much. Even though we do not see Christ physically, we can always feel his presence through the indwelling Holy Spirit. He did not leave us as orphans. What a great source of encouragement it is. It is indeed such a great privilege in life to be loved by JesusChrist.
