Cold As Ice
You caught my attention.
I got a taste of your hate in your greeting.
That hate you carry around along with the pain radiates
from you.
It aroused my heart and reached out to me.
Taking it slow and being very cautious.
I didn't know it at the time that you would take round and round,
in a battle for your hearts freedom. Freedom from the curse.
My whole goal being, that you will know there's love left for you in this universe.
It took a long time for your heart to soften.
I took every punch that you threw while you vented your pain.
You kept leaving me speechless, with no words to sooth you.
The desire to stick around stayed intact.
Even though you gave me no signs of any breakthrough.
You started revealing layer, after layer of your pain —
That the enemy had stolen your hope and dreams.
Even though you felt dead, I could still hear a pulse.
Determined to remain patient even if you got scary.
The pain of rejection had left it's mark on you.
You put up wall after wall. Excuse after excuse.
But I had already decided to love you anyways.
Finally after years of getting to know you and
praying for you — you started showing signs of healing
I didn't know what had taken place.
Not knowing God was using me to reach you with love.
You revealed to me a little reluctantly that I changed your life.
I really never thought I could have that kind of affect on you.
To this day your testimony of what God has done for you and
through what started out as a simple relationship
in my old neighborhood still amazes me.
It's amazing how much unconditional love changes a person.
This friendship has been worth all the trouble. The patience tested.
All the rounds you fought with me. It's all worth it because you
really are awesome. You may think that I changed your life,
but you changed my life also.
You caused me to see the key to life
is love. The ultimate love, the source of love is Jesus.
Loving like Jesus leads people to Him and
Jesus proved His love by dying for our sins.
So keep this love alive in you & never let it die.
You still have my attention — I love you!
Love Is
