The Mercy Seat.
Mercy Seat
Mercy Seat
“John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. The reason God gave us Jesus was because he loved the world. Which means the lost, the rejected, the downtrodden, the hopeless, and the unloved. Those who are a ‘nobody’, the less of the society, the sinners, murderers, rapists, homosexuals and all who are unwanted. God loved the world, and as a result, he gave his one and only Son Jesus Christ. That anyone who accepts and believes in him(Jesus) shall not experience eternal death but shall receive life everlasting. And how did this happen? By Jesus’s death on the cross, he took away all the sin of the world. “Hebrews 10:5-7 (NIV) 5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’” Jesus Christ came to do the will of the father. He also broke the barrier between God the father and man which is sin by His body.
“Psalm 32:1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered”. Our sins have been taken away, the record has been cleared. No sin is imputed on you/me as believers. “2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” One who has believed in Christ Jesus is also considered one with him and one in him. This person becomes one in Christ because of the new birth, this means one is born of God. So a new creation has come into being, the old is gone, a new spirit being is born, therefore anyone who is just born has no past, behold all things in the spirit being of this person is new. Jesus is the mercy seat, not just for Christians or believers but also for the whole world. Jesus Christ came for the whole world and died for all. “Revelation 13:8 (KJV) 8………..the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Jesus gave himself, he said, “here I am, I have come to do your will, my God”. John the Baptist said this by revelation “John 1:29(KJV) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb of God. It was God personally present in Christ Jesus reconciling the world to himself. This is Jehovah Rapha our provider, Jehovah Nissi our banner. Jehovah Jireh our healer, Jehovah shalom our peace. This is the never-changing God in Christ giving us the ministry of reconciliation. God could not leave us destitute in this world, he came in Jesus. “2 Corinthians 5:19 (KJV) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
But unless you receive this gift of life which is Jesus as your lord and saviour, you will perish. No one needs to go to hell, this gift is available now to the all-world. Someone could be thinking I am such as sinner, I wonder if he will accept me? I have got news for you, he died for you – a sinner, you are the reason he went to the cross. That we could not save ourselves, is the reason why he came, that he can save us. There is no big and small sin, all sin is an abomination to God. Some say I didn’t do anything wrong. “Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” No one can earn this gift of righteousness by what we do, we can only receive it by faith. Pray therefore and invite Christ Jesus into your life. “Romans 10:10-11 (NIV) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” To profess also means to confess. With the heart, man believes and confession is made. We believe therefore we speak, for out of the abundance of our hearts the mouth speaks. This means we believe in Christ Jesus in our hearts.
Jesus remains to be our mercy seat even after we have received him as lord and saviour. “Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” This belongs to the church, the believers in Christ Jesus, if we sin, we don’t run away, we don’t give up, but we come to him, that we may receive mercy. Mercy is for all of us and especially when we sin. Therefore, we ask for forgiveness and receive it. At the mercy seat is mercy and truth, at times we go to the throne of God maybe complaining about our fellow brethren. We receive both mercy and truth of who we are, and where our heart is. “1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Jesus is our high priest and he purifies us from all unrighteousness. He washes our feet just like he did the disciples by the word of God.
Conclusion
We therefore continually study the word of truth and meditate on it. We also do the word and not hear only. Let us have faith in the word of God for by it, we receive salvation, healing, peace, joy, and wholeness in all areas of our lives. He has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places. God bless you all.
