The Most Important Hub I've Ever Written--The Great American Fast
"So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, ...For word came unto the king of Nineveh, ... And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?" (Jonah 3:5-9)
In the above passage we see the results of Jonah's preaching at Nineveh. Notice that Jonah was only one man, with only one message delivered to a completely heathen nation, but yet God marvelously intervened on their behalf (see Jonah 3:10 and Jonah 4:11). We may have changed, but our God has not.
America is a heathen nation. It really is. Our only hope is to return to God. I believe it is time for America, as a nation, to pray and fast for God's blessing to return. Through the years God has sent great revivals to His people and to the best of my knowledge, not one came without serious, heart-wrenching prayer.
I understand we are living in the last days, but I also understand it is not God's will for any to perish, but to come to repentance (II Peter 3:9). It is high time for America to rise up and seek the face of her God. We have been sleeping too long.
A few months ago I was sitting in the adult Sunday school class listening as the teacher taught on the importance of prayer and fasting. The National Day of Prayer has been attacked, but in reality no one can stop anyone from praying. America has largely quit praying by choice.
I have always had a burden for America to return to her Lord, but since that one Sunday school class my burden has grown heavier. I'm asking my fellow hubbers to help me bear that burden. On Sunday, July 3, 2011 the first Great American Fast will be held from 6:00am to 6:pm. The purpose of the fast is to seek God's face, that He might be glorified in this country once again. I plead with you to join us. I realize fasting may not be practical or possible for everyone, but would you please enter into the spirit of the fast with us.
It is so important and I still believe II Chronicles 7:14--"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." If we are to claim we believe God's Word, let us claim it all. Let us humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and repent of our wicked sin. If we do that, then God promises to hear from Heaven. Please do not even try to tell me that is just Old Testament teaching. God is true to His Word--always!

The purpose of the website is to keep us encouraged throughout the year as July 3 approaches, One day of concerted prayer is not enough. We must be praying daily for God to move. Please feel free to leave prayer requests and praises so that others may pray and rejoice with you. You may email special meetings and other news items so that many can be praying for your event.
Matthew 6:17, 18 tells us, " But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." That being said, you can register on the website using an appropriate username and remain anonymous.
Secondly if we are to call America to prayer, I need your help. Please use your influence to spread the word any way you can. Let your church and pastor know about July 3 so that all may have a part.
Those of you that know me know that this is not an attempt to glorify a man or a ministry. This is all about God working in His church and in our lives.This is all about God getting the glory He deserves. This is about living with eternity's values in view. The time is NOW! We must awake and fight the fight that God may once again take His rightful place.
