The Negative Aspects of Your Astrological Sun Sign

When you find yourself with a passion for astrology, eventually you're going to start finding yourself search past the rainbows and sunshine that most pseudo followers seek out. Astrology holds way more than simple bits of info about how compatible we are with each other, including what some of our more negative predispositions might be.

Now, as you go through this hub, please keep two things in mind:

1. By no means is this a completed works of all the negative traits of each sign. For one thing, it would be a lot to take in, for anyone who randomly happened upon this hub and found themselves staring at all their worst features. Even I didn't quite enjoy writing about my worst traits, so I can't imagine anyone wanting to see them all blatantly there before them.
2. This hub would probably take hours to go through had I hunted down and included every single bit of information there is about each signs negative side. There's plenty more information out there, should you be looking for something more complete, which is why I've added a module below that shows links to other sights with more information. If you're feeling ambitious, you might consider writing the complete guide to your negative side or something fun like that.

With all of that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this sweet and simple hub about the less than lovely side of our sun signs. Keep in mind that a persons sun sign is only one part of them, and that there are many elements that make up a persons character, thoughts and attributes. So while you may see or experience some of these traits, you are not likely to see them all exhibited from one person, since there is so much more to them then just their sun sign.

March 21-April 19th

For anyone with some basic knowledge in astrology or mythology, it comes as no surprise that one of Aries worst associations is arrogance and hotheadedness. They are natural warriors ready to rule the world with an iron fist. Born in the early spring under the sign of the ram ruled by mars, the fiery sign of Aries has many great qualities, though of all the signs, they also have some of the worst. Besides arrogance, those with Aries dominant in their personalities also fall prey to negative aspects such as:

• Argumentativeness
• Short mindedness
• Aggressiveness
• Mindlessness
• Antagonism
• Provocation
• Narcissism
• Impatience
• Egotism
• Tyranny
• Bullying

That is not to say that the sign of Aries is all bad. This hub is simply answering a question about the more negative aspects of each sign. So while Aries is definitely one of the more aggressive and impetuous of the signs, it is also a sign that many great leaders have in the forefront of their charts. They don't mess around, and are not afraid to put you in your place. Aries is the sun sign most often found in business owners, speakers, activists and politicians. When you're on their good side, they are often one of the loyalist, dependable and analytical signs you'll ever know.

April 20th-May 20th

This is a sign I'm all too familiar with. It is the sun sign of some of my best friends, as well as some of my most worthy foes. Taurus is one of the most aggressive signs you'll find, which is no surprise since it is the sign of the bull. If you think about it, it's not hard to think about what many of Taurus's lesser attributes are. They are a sign that thrives in battle (real or imagined), and loves to collect trophy's and treasures. Aside from being one of the most stubborn signs in the zodiac, they are often also very:

• Overreaction
• Materialistic
• Judgmental
• Compulsive
• Possessive
• Obsessive
• Exclusive
• Sarcastic
• Jealous
• Selfish

On the flip side, Taurus is very well known for their ability to be super romantic, fiercely protective and highly tenacious. Being earth signs, they are generally very down to earth and love any opportunity they can get to prove themselves as upstanding individuals. They are some of the hardest workers around and there are very few things (outside of their own minds) that can stop them from achieving anything they desire.

May 21st-June 20th

Gemini is the sign of the twins, and although any gemini will tell you it's only a stereotype, it seems to be rather true that they do have two very obvious sides. If you have a gemini you're close to, you'll certainly be no stranger to this side of them. They are one of those signs that will steal your most treasured possession and then help you look for it. In good times they are one of the most gentle and compassionate signs you can find. In less than good times, lets just say you wouldn't want them in a jury of your peers. Gemini is host to many negative aspects such as:

• Underhandedness
• Inattentiveness
• Melodramatics
• Indecisiveness
• Impulsiveness
• Restlessness
• Chatterbox
• Flightiness
• Instability
• Anxiety
• Gossip
• Finicky

Gemini is a sign of Air and this is part of the reason they can be so up in the air at times. Most of the time, their negative actions have less to do with other people around them, and more to do with being stuck in their own imaginations.

June 21st-July 22nd

The most artistic of all the signs, Cancer is one of the gentle mother figure of the zodiac (even the men). They tend to be very quiet and reserved to most who don't know them, but don't let that fool you. Just like all the other signs, they have just as many negative traits, even if you don't see them out on their sleeves as with other signs. Cancer's less than shining attributes are often:

• Doormat Syndrome
• Introspectiveness
• Indecisiveness
• Side-Stepping
• Self-Loathing
• Manipulation
• Complaining
• Victimization
• Fearfulness
• Seclusion
• Anxiety

Cancer is a water sign ruled by the moon, which is usually behind their worst and best features. They wax and wane, revealing their positive and negative traits in confusing cycles that could make anyone's head spin, including their own. That being said, this is the sign that will be there for you when you need a shoulder to lean on, or someone to come jump your battery at three in the morning. They love to care and be cared for.

July 23rd-Aug 22nd

There is no other sign quite like the might Lion. One of the most cunning, generous and protective out of all the signs, they are often way too trusting and expecting of others, not realizing that everyone doesn't see the world the way they do. That being said, just like all the other signs, Leo's have just as many negative aspects as any other sign, as anyone with a friend or family member with a dominant Leo sun sign will know. Their traits (both positive and negative) tend to be amplified by their fiery nature. In Leo, the negative aspects you will most likely see are:

• Mania
• Conceit
• Jealousy
• Gullibility
• Laziness
• Dramatics
• Egotistical
• Domination
• Commitment Issues

When they aren't feeling personally injured by your inability to keep up with their near impossible expectations, Leo's can be one of the most warm-hearted, helpful and loyal signs. They are fiercely protective (and critical) of anyone they include in their pride, and will go out of their way to do whatever they can to do what they feel is necessary to keep everyone safe and happy.

Aug 23rd-Sept 22nd

Don't let their signs symbol fool you. They may play the part of the virgin very well, but they are anything but. Virgo's are one of the few signs that you can count on to never forget. That can be one of their best traits and one of their worst as well. Virgo's are earth signs, and because of that, they are often very practical by nature, though that doesn't mean they are without their follies. In Virgo you will see:

• Grudge-holding
• Perfectionism
• Fault Finding
• Manipulation
• Vengeance
• Narcissism
• Pessimism
• Insecurity
• Deceit

Virgo is one of the most collected of all the signs, but they are also one of the signs that can make a mountain out of a molehill better than any other. Their high intellect brings them to the highest peaks of success in any endeavor they go after, and out of all the earth signs, they are definitely one of the few that one might call a true friend (just as long as you don't make any messes).

Sept 23rd-Oct 22nd

Libra, being symbolized by the scales, is said to be the sign of balance, which can work either way. If life is going sour, you can count on them to pick you up. Likewise, if things are just getting too good, they'll be there to bring you right back down. Libra is ruled by Venus, that great goddess of love who will have her way no matter what it takes. With a ruler like that, it's no wonder Libra can be one of the most loving signs you'll ever know, while at the same time being one of the biggest jerks you've ever met. Look out for negative traits such as:

• Apathy
• Imitation
• Jealousy
• Promiscuity
• Mood Swings
• Secretiveness
• Non-committal
• Indecisiveness
• Possessiveness
• People Pleasing
• Argumentativeness

Libra is a the cardinal air sign for fall, and because of that they are one of the more action oriented signs. They thrive on newness and adventure, and while this is often behind many of their less than great traits, it's also the root source of some of their greatest strengths. This is sign you'll find behind many of the world's greatest leaders, free-thinkers and teachers.

Oct 23rd-Nov 21st

Watch out for whiplash with this sign! They are one of the deepest and most direct signs in the zodiac, and probably one of the only signs that makes to premise about how they are feeling. Sure, their ruling element of water can bring them up and down throughout the day, but that doesn't mean their isn't a method to their madness. Scorpio's are symbolized by the scorpion, one of the scariest and most misunderstood signs of the zodiac. While their hard shells and spiny tails make them look as if they are 100% devil, they certainly are not. The simple truth is that Scorpios don't mess around and they are not one of those signs that likes to beat around the bush. They much rather sting you and move on to more important matters. If you can build an immunity to the venom, you'll be brought into their inner circle. If not, well... Let's just say you won't last long enough for it to matter much to them. Within Scorpio you'll find:

• Vindictiveness
• Mood Swings
• Power Trips
• Criticalness
• Dominance
• Inflexibility
• Brutality

While Scorpio's can be one of the more aggressive of all signs, they are also the one of the most caring. On the positive side, they are the builders and creators in our world. If you need a plan, they will create it. If you have a problem, they will fix it. Just don't be judgmental about the way they do it. They don't care about stepping on toes if it means success.

Nov 22nd-Dec 21st

Ah the might archer.. The sign of Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the big boy of our solar system. This means they are the game changers and natural born leaders of the zodiac. Though that also means that they have some mighty weight to through around and if you find yourself becoming a nuisance, they have no problem sucking you into their gaseous atmosphere, never to return. Look out for:

• Greed
• Bullying
• Boredom
• Indecision
• Spitefulness
• Restlessness
• Inconsistency
• Stubbornness
• Temper Tantrums
• Passive-Aggressive Tendencies

Sagittarian's are some of the funniest and most warmhearted people I have met so far. They are one of the more controlled signs out of the zodiac as well, so while they have their negative traits, being a mutable sign makes them very well aware of the way they communicate with others, verbally and non-verbally. They do their best not to rock the boat unless they feel backed into a corner.

Dec 22nd-Jan 19th

If you need a disciplined guru in your life, Capricorn is the sign you seek. They are ambitious, determined, persistent and one of the hardest signs to knock to the ground. Though being a Capricorn myself, I can guarantee you this sign is certainly not free of negativity. Within this Saturn ruled sign you will find:

• Judgment
• Inflexibility
• Withdrawal
• Materialism
• Melancholy
• Self Loathing
• Conservatism
• Possessiveness
• Disciplinarian-ism

Capricorns have the hardest feathers to ruffle, on the outside. Though on the inside, they are easily injured and just want to fit in like any other sign. The old sea-goat is one of the wisest signs you'll find, as they spend much of their time alone, collecting knowledge and experience in their endeavor to rule themselves and calm their inner turmoil. If you need a true friend or loyal partner in love, business or adventure, they are the sign to turn to. Just don't expect them to compliment you or bolster your ego, they really aren't sure how to do either.

Jan 20th-Feb 18th

Being another sign of Saturn, Aquarian's also know what it means to be disciplined and responsible. Though being ruled by Air, they are not as adept at fitting any other signs description of "normal". They have focus like no other, but only on things that keep their interest. Look out for negative traits like:

• Rigidity
• Selfishness
• Antagonism
• Noncommittal
• Stubbornness
• Lack of Humor
• Cold-Calculating
• Superiority Complex
• Anti-Authoritarianism
• Addictive Tendencies

Aquarian's are the wanderers of the zodiac, and because of this, they tend to hate being chained to anything, even something self created. That being said, they are the sign you want to look to when you need information, construction and impartiality. They see things how they are, and are not afraid to tell it to you like it really is, making them one of the most honest of the signs, and also one of the best suited to roles like judges, authors and therapist.

Feb 19th-March 20th

Pisces alone is ruled by Neptune, that watery planet of heightened intuition and ultimate imagination. Their watery nature leads them into the best adventures, without even leaving home, though it also tends to get them into more trouble then any other attribute. Mostly because it leads to negative traits such as:

• Instability
• Boredom
• Deception
• Pretending
• Depression
• Shallowness
• Inconsistency
• Secretiveness
• Being Judgmental

Pisces can dream a bigger dream than any other sign, and they make some of the best daycare teachers, nurses, religious leaders and actors. They are the sign that you will find marching to the tune of their own drummer, despite any negative effects it might have on them or others in their lives. They are some of the sweetest people you will meet, and will always be there when you need someone to call. Just make sure you're there to return that favor, as they'll need it fairly often.
