The Power Over Temptation

Power Over Temptation

Overcoming temptation

The Power Over Temptation

When we are tempted as believers, we know that it is the enemy that’s trying to get us to fail Christ.  Sometimes God uses the temptations that come from the devil, to help mature and develop our character for Jesus Christ.

Temptation is when Satan finds a weak point that is open for attack, what you need to know is that God never tempt people to evil.  Some people say that it’s hard to overcome temptation, but I’m writing to let you know that if you are being tempted, you can overcome because the word of God says, “God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13).  God is wonderful, he has mapped out an escape route for every temptation we face, but the outcome depends on you, it depends on whether or not you take the key and unlock the door to escape.  As believers, we must be watchful for the devil snares and traps, because he is underhanded in all his ways.  The devil chooses his timing wisely before tempting you, he waits for your weakest moment, or he’ll wait for a situation to arise in your life that you feel is hopeless, he will wait for you to have unforeseen circumstances such as, a job loss, or lost of a home, or even death to a love one.  The devil is very shrewd, and cunning, he even tried to tempt Jesus as he came off of his forty day fast.

Satan chooses the occasion for temptation with great skill, but remember we as believers, hold the key which is the word of God which will unlock the door to escape.  How do we overcome temptation as believers, by using the word of God to fight off the attack of the devil, tell him what the word says, and stand on it, because if you use the word against him, he will flee from you.  Be encouraged, and God bless you.

      Well spoken and well written.

Truly the power over temptation is only by our being submitted to the word of God. Yet, as you said, that even in the midst of our temptations, God has already made a way of escape.

      God Bless

The devil knows our weakest points and will always take aim at them. Some where it is written, "Give no room to the devil." I love to say that we should stay out of the devil's territory. Thank God for providing a way of escape for every temptation. However, we must remember to do our part - learning the word and giving Satan nothing to work with. God bless!

      Dear Sister,

Your hub is timely. Satan tried to throw a huge temptation my way just tonight. I ducked, he missed, and now am running the other way. Praise God! But here is the where the word of God comes in. "With every temptation, he [God] will provide a way of escape." And I need the word of God to fight.

You are so right in saying, "Satan chooses the occasion for temptation with great skill, but remember we as believers, hold the key which is the word of God." God's word, I shall bathe myself in it tonight and be ever so glad that God provides a way of escape and a weapon for defense - his word. Bless you
