The Red Heifer, Jesus and the Colt
The Red Heifer, Jesus and the Colt
Numbers 19:1-10
The red heifer was pure, spotless, never a yoke put upon it. As the colt that Jesus road into Jerusalem had never been ridden on before. It must be spotless, without blemish and pure. Over the next few moments we will see: 1) Purification
A- Romans 3:10 There is none righteous no not one.
B- Isaiah 1:18 Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow, though they be as crimson they shall be like wool.
2) Our King
A- Rev.19:10 Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords
B- Luke 19:30-40 Jesus road into the town on a colt pure without blemish
- Our Duties
A- Matt. 28:18-20 The great commission, Go Ye into all the world
B- Hebrews 13:13 Therefore let us go outside the camp bearing His reproach
Definitions: Red Cedar easy to understand the cedar wood used to burn the sacrificial offering
Hyssop, aromatic herbs
Scarlet, more than likely berries or cherries of the scarlet color used to burn with the sacrifice, scarlet represented sin.
Sin, the word usually means our faults before God what we have done to fall short of His glory. In many cases the word sin is the same as death. This instance it means death.
We are purified through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we are saved by His grace through His sacrifice. You see so many think they are saved because Jesus died on the cross from taking the Romans beatings. Because they beat Him up we received our salvation.
We are saved because His Father crushed Him under the full force of His wrath, because someone had to pay for you, you could not do it yourself. It was Him, it was Jesus.
You see we are so filthy within that there is nothing we can do for ourselves to be cleansed, purified before God.
That purification can only come through the Precious blood of the righteous pure blood of Jesus Christ.
Bearing His reproach Hebrews 13:13 this can hard for the new Christian, how do they handle rejection how do they respond to people that were friends when they were under their flesh? The friends know the old ways , they do not know the new creation we become in Christ. Back up to verses 5&6 same chapter.
Our duties: It is up to us as Christians, God’s called out to make a stand and let our voices be heard. Give our lives to God.
Our voices need to be heard today in this world of conflict. As Jesus rode into Jerusalem the religious Jewish leaders told Him He needed to quiet the crowd. He responded “if I told them to hush their voices immediately the stones would cry out. Jesus has called us to a higher calling one that removes our fears,
Church it is time we get out of our comfort zones we are pure through Christ, we are changed through Christ we are charged through Christ.
Where I traveled with Samaritan's Purse to help the tornado victims
Amos tells us in chapter 8 verse 11, “Behold, the days come saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.” Church we have this famine now here in America. It is time to wake up, it is time to let our voices be heard. Church it is time to declare,”Thus saith the LORD GOD.”
Church it is time to get out of our comfort zones. There are too many saying they can’t do this or that. There are too many saying they can only do this or that. But, if God is going to strengthen you, if He is going to help you mature in the faith, then you must go.
You say you can pray but not witness one on one. You say you can speak to one but not many, or you can speak to many but not go out to the neighborhoods. Why? Because it is out of your comfort zone. This is what God wants, you out of your comfort zone. The results, you grow, you depend on God, not yourself. You will never grow if you stay comfortable, only by stepping out and totally depending on Jesus Christ will you grow in grace and faith.
(loudly emphasized) CHURCH, come to the altar, lay your pride aside learn to lean on Jesus. Put down the flesh and adorn yourself in the garments not made with human hands. (emphasis added) CHURCH, it is time to totally surrender, lay your burdens down at the feet of Jesus. (emphasized again) CHURCH, lay aside your baggage, all the sin, all the burdens that keep you from the love of God. You say you want to learn to love people, but how can you until you totally learn to surrender and love God?
And I finish with this, we wonder why our churches are weak. We beat our heads because the church does not grow. We see work unfinished and ask why. We see a cold spiritually starving world and scratch our heads. I offer this, my friends, there is too much dust upon the altar. Amen.
