We Are Building A Tower of Prayer, Not Babel
“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto the heaven; and let us make a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
And the Lord came down to see the city and tower, which the children of men built.
And the Lord said, Behold the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of them abroad upon the face of all the earth” (Genesis 11: 1-9 KJV).
Our biblical account tells us that the whole earth spoke one language and one speech, how they created a conversation of how to devise mischief. As they went along their journey from the east, they discovered a plain or unadorned parcel of land and dwelt there. Here is where Babel was imagined in the hearts of men speaking one language, understanding each other precisely. Babel means confusion after God confounded their conversation.
Language is the human capacity for acquiring and using complex systems of communication, and a language is any specific example of such a system.
Speech is the vocalized form of human communication. It is the faculty or act of speaking; and it is the faculty or act of expressing or describing thoughts, feelings, or perceptions by the articulation of words.
Burning of brick for stone and slime for mortar was a skill their ancestors acquired in Egypt, it was the task of Hebrew slaves. Interestingly enough they found their own use of this trade and endeavored to build them a city and tower. They didn’t just want to build a city or tower; they wanted it to reach heaven. The idea of wanting to reach heaven sounds a lot like the oath of the enemy after he had fallen in which he said in his heart that he would ascend into heaven. Read(Isaiah 14:12-15). What would man really know about building anything that reached heaven when he didn't even have a personal relationship with the God of heaven. We as believers understand because of the prophets and Jesus Christ who came to show us the legal way to access heaven. Babel was primarily devised by those inhabitants of the kingdom of darkness through these men. The idea wasn't an original thought formed by man.
These men showing up and devising an idea to build a tower could only have come from the realm of evil, seeing that God was not the inspiration of this desire. It comes from the same evil place where eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was devised. The tower was an evil intent because God was not the core of construction. We use the knowledge of good when we desire to build according to God’s plans and purpose using His guidelines and blueprint.
One language and one speech is what gives universe its meaning. Uni meaning one, and verse meaning stanza and symbolizes oneness, but doesn't qualify oneness to each other or with the Godhead. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. We are witnessing believers of God in the universe shifting into divine order and aligning our lives under God's sovereignty and oneness with Him. Our speech and language is directed by God, He controls the conversation enabling us not to go forth and be instruments in building babel in this day and age.
Towers are mysterious places. I am originally from New York and worked in the Wall Street district for 14 years. I can remember walking by on many occasions eyeing this grandiose wonder. I've been in one of the Twin Towers before and recall going up on the elevator. The height of the towers would cause the elevators to rock, shake and sway as you ascended upward and I can remember being glad to arrive back on the ground fall and to be on my way.
Each of the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center had 110 stories and were among the ten tallest buildings in the world. The official story states that both towers collapsed as a result of collisions by aircraft, and subsequent fires, during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. The span upward was nothing close to reaching heaven, nevertheless these were very tall buildings. The babel crowd desired their towers to reach an unreachable height comprised of bricks and mortar. Only the spirit can travel that height, not flesh and blood and material constructions.
I don't think the blueprint or intentions of building the twin towers were the same as the babel crowd had, but it was most certainly a scary experience riding the elevators. Nevertheless the towers were the pillars of the city and a main attraction. I must say I cannot tell you the name of the designers or architects behind the building of the twin towers. I can truly aver that the reflection towards all the lives taken in that tragedy saddens the heart. Those lives will never be forgotten.
There are towers of spiritual evil and wickedness higher than the twin towers, which the Word of God refers to as principalities and powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places. Principles in wickedness are manifested in, through and by sin and produces spiritual and moral decay in the earth.
The original idea of building Babel began in the spirit realm and manifested in the natural realm. The devil is a spirit who devised the plot to build without God and to revise his path to heaven. This was not your typical every day thinking. Man was not even capable of considering or desiring to build a personal relationship with the God of heaven, let alone building a physical tower of impossibility. I believe it is utterly impossible to build a material building constructed of brick and mortar consisting of height, weight and depth that can reach heaven. Where did these men get this idea from? It came out of spiritual darkness. These men took the instruction of the demonic literally without giving it much logical thought as to how is that possible?
This should serve as a premise for qualifying the actuality of spiritual warfare in the earth realm. There are those of us on the side of Christ and God and all who serve God in heaven, against those on the side of evil which build without God's permission. Meaning they have no legal right to operate in the spirit realm or in the earth. We must establish our legal rights to operate in the spirit and natural to build and to throw down what is illegal.
We are told what we bind in the earth must first be something bound in heaven. All unrighteousness is bound and illegal in heaven, which makes it illegal in the earth. We can loose righteousness in the earth because it is functional in heaven. The point is to ascertain what your legal rights are in order to operate according to God's dominion mandates and womandates. All things that are built against the will of God would be synonymous with the building of babel and cooperating with the cohorts of spiritual Babylon. Babel is still striving to exist but warfare is being conducted daily against it by prayer warriors all over the world, nationally and internally. Prayer is shifting the universe back under the rule and reign of Almighty God through Jesus Christ into a horizontal relational tower with speech and language that reaches heaven and glorifies Him.
Jesus taught us how to build a tower called prayer, it entails a relationship with God the Father. Jesus said, When you pray, say, Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come and thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Now that’s building a tower that is legal and lawful and it reaches heaven. Hallelujah! It is the tower of God called “prayer;” He controls the speech and language and guides the conversation in oneness with Him. Our conversations are directed to heaven each and every day and our prayers are not earthbound because we are positioned in the earth.
Building anything towards heaven and not being in a relationship and communication with God is illegal and unlawful. Cities are earthly encampments, towers to heaven are not. Prayer is the tower God built which we ascend and descend on rungs only faith can climb. The Babel crowd said let us build and God’s response was, let us go down and confound their language so that they may not understand one another’s speech. If they would have understood each other they would be carrying out the devil’s plan not their own. Men build cities on earth and throughout the earth, but it is questionable what type of tower they could desire to build without a conversation with God every day. I can see the tower of prayer that reaches heaven, but I can’t see any tower without God. A life of prayer is a tower to heaven, but it is legal through the Lord Jesus Christ.
A tower involves mostly height. There are high places of evil in the spheres of building without God; in the atmospheres and stratospheres. There are ceilings of unrepentance operating in the realms, dimensions and atmospheres between heaven and earth that are the equivalent of spiritual towers. Jesus destroyed and reversed that spiritual dominion for us and gave us the authority to desire to reach heaven through Him. Only by and through prayer do we have access to heaven through a personal relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ. All other attempts without Jesus Christ are illegal. Jesus is the door and we must enter through the door. This attempt by the babel crowd has only built the Babylonian empire, not a tower to heaven, however they did build cities. Jesus was able to reverse all demonic decrees because of His dominion. Through prayer we have dominion over the evil forces building sin to tower over all earth and block the face of God. Sin is a tower of unrighteousness.
The whole earth is slowly waking up from the effects of Babel. The whole earth was one language and speech until they decided to build a city, and tower and to make a name for themselves. These were the three basic intents of their hearts; to build a city, and a tower whose top would reach heaven and they reasoned to make a name for themselves fearing that they might be scattered abroad upon the face of the earth. Well, that happened the scattering upon the face of the earth manifested.
It is interesting how America represents and seems to be the place in this dispensation of time, where nations seek to come. Leaving their own roots and homelands for what they perceive to be a better life in America. Immigrants have come, every nationality has come, and every language has come to speak one language again. Speech and language leads to conversation. There are two options, the first being spiritually building through prayer, whereas if it is not built in prayer it is illegal; The results of illegally building is only a disastrous end, and the other option is continuing to build Babel in this day known as the world system without God. Babel can only be built without instructions from God.
The spiritless motivators and builders of Babel sought to erect high places and their speech and language led them to a conversation with each other to build without God’s involvement or permission. It seems so inane to build without God, but, only on the other side of the cross. Cities and towers have been built since this time and the making of names for oneself has been an enormous part of executing such a plan and scheme. Man has always endeavored to build without asking for God’s input, direction, strategy and purpose. He seemed to always have had his own agenda, one that never really makes the sense it could make with God at the center of the hub. Men are still at work today building cities, towers and making names for themselves. It really hasn’t changed much since that first directive to build Babel. There is really nothing new under the sun, only the methodology and way of doing things change.
To build Babel was a real idea that came out of men’s heart. The tower that is being built today is a spiritual tower and prayer being the only way to build. Picture if you will every individual believer praying day and night. Can you visualize the enormity of the vision and can you see the tower of our prayers to God. Now that’s a real tower to heaven established upon principle. The speech and language is controlled by oneness, and the conversation is controlled by the Spirit of God through which a tower of prayer is erected to God. We don’t need to make a name for ourselves because our intentions are to build in God and not outside of His purpose and our names are written in the Book of Life. Those who considered building babel didn’t consider God in their intentions, neither even fathomed that He would come down to investigate this intent.
God confounded the languages so that they couldn’t understand each other. Yet that hasn’t stopped the intents and motives of the devil and demons to build apart from God. The whole earth was one language and speech until God interrupted the conversation. America herself has embraced those who spoke different languages and whose speech was diverse. It appears as time goes on English is becoming that one language all the nations endeavor to speak. The good news about it is that this one language is leading people to Jesus Christ and the cross and into a one on one relationship with Christ. This one language English is rapidly changing conversations to exemplify God’s mandates for living.
Beloved, Help build the tower of prayer, praise and worship to the Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and you will be helping to throw down spiritual babel. Grace and Peace be unto you.
