The Two Extremes of Islam

Updated on December 17, 2010

All religions and beliefs have their extreme elements that places the whole in bad light. It seems that since 2001, it has been nothing but Islam, terrorists, Taliban, Muslim related extremists. The actions of a few are broadcasted instantly across the world casting bad light of a whole religion and believe. Many in the West wonder why the remaining Islamic and Muslim world does not publicly have a voice in the media condemning the acts of a few vehemently often, which only makes everyone a bit more suspicious about Islam as a whole. Bad is bad, right?

At one end of the sick, gross, brutal, horrific customs of Islam is the recent atrocity (by Western standards) is the death of a 13 yr-old girl, Aisha Ibrahim. Aisha was raped by three men. Despite the horror, she had the guts to to report the crime to local authorities. These sick, satanic, authorities, citing the extreme and misinterpretated Koran as a crutch, did not charge the three men BUT CHARGED THE GIRL WITH HAVING ILLICIT SEX WITH THEM! Despite the mock trial that mocked Islam as inhuman, she was sentenced to death. She was then half buried in a pit with the upper torso exposed and stoned to death by 1000 sick followers of Islam. All under the pretext that the Koran mandated this punishment. They all should be shot.

Fast forward to Dr. Hawa Abdi of Somali, a devout Muslim. She is the kind of Muslim that this world needs now. She represents what Islam is and should be shown to the world. Dr Abdi confronted the twisted Muslims who practiced a twisted form of Islam yielding guns and terror to force others. These militias is confronted strangely did no harm to her and even backed down. She turned the hospital she ran into a refuge for the 90000 displaced persons resulting from the Somalia warfare. It all started with a one room clinic in 1983, which has grown to over 400 beds! She also helped create and fund a school for 850 girls on her 1300 acre farm. She even created a small jail for men, those who commit crimes against women.

In May, a new hard line militia, Hizb al-Islam (Party of Islam) took control and tried to pass a new law forbidding women from being able to operate businesses. She was ordered to hand over her control of the 1300 acres. She refused. That is when 750 men from the militia took over by force and seized her hospital. When word had gotten out, everyone was against the Party of Islam and she regained control. She demanded the occupying militia not only leave but she wanted an apology! Her daughter, a doctor in Atlanta, GA., begged her mom to not be so angry, but thankful nothing more would happen. She refused.

After time passed, the manly Party of Islam backed downed further, left the compound and provided her with an apology, but not before that tore apart the interior of the hospital. Now, in ruins, the doctor is in the US trying to raise money for repairs.

Like most religions, Islam has a war within itself despite the Koran because each reader interprets the writing differently and is biased based upon their own personal experiences in life. How one reads it and acts may hinge on a single word or phrase.

Sadly, it is the extremists that capture the world headlines because it is atrocity and not good.

For the most part the only place that keeps pushing bad press on Islam is the USA. The sad part about that is very few of the people in the USA will ever get to find out that the Qur'an is the third part of the Word of God.

PEACE MR PERRYA, i have read your article wherein you have quoted different instances ones those are unfortunate, and you are right on two important counts to conclude that different people interpret differently, secondly its the extremists that gain the headlines world over.

Interpretation is always a challenge to the different existing sects, how ever, it must be pointed out, interpretation of various sects dont diverge so greatly to have quarrels amongst follower; in other words those who go the extremes in relation with the interpretation are not at all religious thus dont have any religious rightful motive. But a malafide political motive such as u quoted in an example wherein few militias captured the 1300 acres of a female philanthropist.

while those who get the headlines are good for the media TRPs and hence fun; what is good in covering normal activities.

LOL, yes, it will never end. There is no solution but to accept each other in good light unless proven bad. Nancy Grace has a show that is sensationalism about the extreme crimes in the US. She has reported beheadings and stonings in Iran also. All incomprehensible to Americans or Europeans. usually, doing good deeds does not make headline news in any newsroom. Americans are the most generous and open people to strangers. We are friendly by nature. War is a last resort and only if our allies or ourselves are threatened. If kuwait was attacked by Iran, you can be sure America would be there to defend you. We are all in this together, this fight against the extreme elements of Islam.

Im not being infected im being factual. I watch Nancy grace and I also wait for the updates of the missing children she reports of. It's terrible there. Comparing to Kuwait . We have very low criminal rate and we also an Islamic countryust to show u an example of a clean islamic country . Im pointing u out that crime is a crime whether ur a christian or a muslim . Killing innocents isnt acceptable in every society. Sadly when a muslim kills it'll be a scandal and when a christian kills they will cover up the story and people will forget all about it. The Hypocrisy is everywhere by the way, if u think the women in Saudia should wear the head scarf , then why do nuns cover thier heads too? also the jewish women. If a muslim wear a head scarf u call it oppression and a nun u call her an angel or devotion to God...etc. This will never end.

I think you have been infected about what you see in the news and who is reporting it. Much of it with a spin on what is bad in the US. You make too many generalizations about what "all americans" think. The hypocrisy I referred to was that existing in Saudi Arabia, double standards. Kuwait is more liberal than SA. When talking of redical islamists, we refer to those of Taliban, al qaeda, those in Yemen. I think Islam has a problem with gays, as well. Many arabs look upon "anglo-white" as infidels, so we all have issues. Kuwait is no more exempt than any society. we all have double standards. I am sure rape, child abductions, murder, robbery all happen in Kuwait and elsewhere. Even in this dialog we have, you have a strong bias against the US and west in general terms.

Well the westerners also think highly of themselves and think they are better than the darker people and the asians . Remember the blacks in America? how many of them got killed because they were blacks?

We indeed believe our religion is the truth but I also do not show off and tell people that Im a better person. I don't think this is the issue anyway. We have many americans here in Kuwait and we dont use our weapons against any of them. They are living a normal life over here without getting hurt . We do not preach things and do another in private. I think what ur writing happens more in Iran or Pakistan. Not here!

In america I have heard there are many race issues against religions and color. The nazis against the jews and the Islamophobia issue such as Robert Spencer (idiot) . On the other hand the gays and blacks also suffer too. I think u should focus on ur local issues in your own country before Islam.

The rapes , the child abductions, The young mothers who kill thier own babies because they are playing Farmville?

You also have messed people but I dont blame Christianity. Sorry this happens in your country.

It would be better for the world in general if the extreme muslims would get over their islamic attitude that they are better than the west. They are full of hypocrisy, many are educated in the west, use technology created in the west to kill us. Ironic. They preach one thing and in private, do another. The weapons they use, were made in the West. The vehicles, made in the West. yet, they wage war against us, as if, we are satan and want to push their politcal law and way of life on anyone who is not with them.

As a muslim myself we travel the world more than u ever did. Most of us do not bomb or kill anyone. And most of us do not judge the US from TV . We already seen America many times and we dont hate the west. The people you are writing about are the extremists and they arent the majority of muslims. Most of the muslims are moderate in thier religion but Sadly I do not deny that there are some that are extremist that have misrepresented our religion in a bad way. We would never want to hurt anyone , not even a bug. So please do not accuse muslims of killing. Those people are the minority of the muslims not majority. Turkey And Europe isnt enough to judge the muslims. Have you met any arabs?

Things have changed now. Arabs and muslims arent living in a desert as much as the Americans arent Cowboys anymore. U see how movies create stereotypes?

When I first went to the US for the first time I thought Id see Cowboys. And the americans there asked me if I lived in a tent with an oil lake.

well, actually, I have lived in europe, been to turkey, but your last sentence is the real issue. Just like Americans should not base their opinion on islam based on TV, news, movies, likewise, those muslim who hate the west or USA, should not do so simply from what they hear or see in the media because most have no idea what the US is really like. The media portrays both sides in bad light most of the time.

for ur information u should talk about the extremists that misrepresent islam and not the Extreme of Islam. The religion itself is a fast growing religion and despite the Islamophobia people are researching it and most of those researchers are converting into ISlam. Those are actually white people from the US. Even Priests are converting because they have claimed that they dont believe in trinity but they believed it anyway. Sadly some extremists misrepresent Islam , thus the media will always show u the ugly side and ull believe it is. The places you have written about are an exception such as Somalia or Africa and the people there arent educated. But if u have seen the other arab countries you would see good muslims that are well educated. Islamic countries are different from one to another depends on the education and financial , regime situations. But I assume u never even got out of ur California state ever. So I dont think u should judge the muslims or arabs by just watching TV.

      Have a nice day
