Secrets contained in DNA!

Readers may wonder 'what is the connection of DNA' in Spirituality column? I too had such doubts before going through a research article recently on DNA. Scientists researching on the data stored in a DNA of some animal species has found that the data contains details pertaining to very beginning of the particular animal species. The data is not simply pertaining to the particular life of the animal on earth. This proves some points found in scriptures. Every being goes through several births in the ladder of evolution and every thing is recorded in DNA since the first birth of the animal on the earth. This information is relevant to human beings also since we too had many births before obtaining the precious human birth. I mean that we had gone through the plant kingdom, insects, fishes and birds which evolved into animals. After many such incarnations we have evolved as human being. Scientists trace our evolution to monkeys or apes.

Though the subject of rebirth is not accepted in certain religions, in Hinduism 'reincarnation' has been dealt very widely. In the Bagawat Gita, a famous collection of philosophical teachings deal with reincarnation more frequently. It is said by Krishna that 'at the point of death, the man who thinks of the world takes birth again in the world to work out his past karmas (effects of past deeds). Those who think of God during the last breath reaches Him! But to think about God during the last journey is an impossible task for worldly minded people. They will be in the grip of fear and mostly worried about the wealth they garnered, the close relatives from whom they have to depart etc., Such people invariably takes birth in the world to pursue their desires. The desire for God is very rare and only highly evolved souls will focus on God at such moments. Also the last breath snatches the mind (impressions gathered during the life time) with it. This will be the deciding factor for the next birth! If one had indulged only in evil activities throughout his life, he will be born in a family of arrogant and rogue people. He will find the going tough due to the cruelties indulged by his family. In the case of a good man, he will definitely take birth in a holy family furthering his spiritual efforts from where he has left!

Hence we find in the world, many disparities in the children. Some are born in high societies commanding the affluence from the birth. Others are born in poverty afflicted families where there is paucity for food and cloths. It takes many years for them to find the barest necessities of life through stint of hard work and manual labor. God never inflicts any punishment! It is our own deeds which boomerang on us. If we examine the DNA of each individual, the entire lives spent in the past is coded in the DNA which decide his qualities and habits when he is born. In a way each human is a casket of history and hence people coin words like "luck, fortune and fate to denote the past. If we sow mango seed, we will get mango fruit. If we sow the bitter neem seed, we won't get a sweet fruit in future. Hence the entire information pertaining to each individual is stored in his DNA. One day, scientists may be able to decode them. Since our life on earth is not an isolated event but a continuous journey through many species, we have to refine ourselves to achieve our major aim of Life! It is to reach the source from where we have parted during creation!
