The Peppermint Story
Based on Mark 4:30-34
I am at the beginning of a new day; I am looking outside, and I can see the thick blanket of clouds covering the sky. Looks like it is going to rain today. But even so, there is a peace in the nature, like the time just stopped and the birds don’t want to leave the comfort of their nests.
I read this morning the parable with the mustard seed. I remember that among the seeds that I planted a week ago I also planted peppermint and I could see that the seeds were very small, the smallest ones I had. But when they will grow, in a couple of years it will take over all my garden, spreading everywhere. It is the same with the kingdom of God, when we received Jesus in our hearts, we received His kingdom, like a whole new world inside of us. The seed is small at the beginning, but day by day, following Jesus, the seed will become a plant, growing roots and getting stronger.
The kingdom of God is in our hearts, growing and spreading everywhere if we water it with God’s word and prayer, and if we keep obeying His commands and do His will. Now every time I look at my peppermint , every time I will water it , I will remember that my soul needs spiritual watering as well, so that the kingdom of God will grow roots deeper and deeper inside my heart.
