The Story of Noah and the Ark
Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. ~Genesis 6:8~
Noah, meaning "to comfort" or "to rest" lived 950 years. Before Noah, it is clear that nine generations have passed since God created Adam and Eve. Mankind has become a cruel and evil race. But, in the midst of sin, tyranny, violence, and corruption, God observes the faithfulness of one man. Noah. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. (6:8)
In the story of Noah, we see that Noah exhibits the qualities that God has been looking for thousands of years ago. The bible describes Noah as a righteous, obedient, and just man.(6:9) Noah was obedient in all that God asked him to do. As God began to observe the sin an tyranny of man, He takes special care to preserve Noah and his family. God instructs Noah to build the very first boat. Little did Noah know, he were about to take part in a very important plan.
This boat was to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. After building the ark. Noah was to fill it with every living species, male and female. The promised flood took 120 years to come. Although Noah was ridiculed, teased, rejected and mocked, he remained obedient to the instructions of God. Noah patiently preached, warned friends and neighbors of the flood to come. At the end of 120 years, one of the greatest floods in the history of mankind took place. It rained 40 days and 40 nights. After the flood, there was not one living creature upon the face of the earth. God promised to never destroy mankind by water or flood again. The promise was sealed with a rainbow.
