What the Saints wants from us?
Unable to stop the fire that was caused inadvertently, the world leaders are blinking at the eroding scenarios. They could neither withdraw nor involve themselves fully. It is the fire ragging assisted by fast winds of interconnectivity. The world would not have plunged into these abysmal situations, had the Western countries stopped interfering in other’s affairs. There is a proverb in Tamil, “scratching the head with ignited firewood? What will happen?
Sadly, the world has not learned from the past mistakes of interference either in Vietnam or Korea or in several such places. In fact, the involvement of the Western Powers has made the matters very worse for the entire world. At this juncture, I remember about Buddha and Gandhi! Passive resistance was advocated by Mahatma Gandhi throughout his freedom struggle. He never budged from his principles. The mighty British forces strangled the freedom movements in the bud by arresting the patriots, putting them in Jails like Andaman. They were tortured in all possible ways by the British soldiers and Police! Many patriots laid their sweet life at the altar of the Mother India. Many innocents have sacrificed their precious life for the sake of the country. Every village in India was electrified the great freedom movement. The half-clad Gandhi with the powerful weapon of Truth and Non-violence could challenge the mighty British! How long they will tramp over Truth and justice? After decades of struggle and losing many patriots, ultimately the British Kingdom conceded Independence to India.
Today is Mahavir Jayanthi! The entire Jain community in the world preaches only Non-violence. They never harm even an insect. If one is aware of the strange ways, their preceptors live their life, people will wonder. The world is a queer mixture of most virtuous souls and the cruelest despots. None remember the dictators nor would anyone like to name their children after their names. Their mighty army and powers are only history. People love Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus and Mahavir for their benevolent teachings to humanity. They were never power mongers like the many unsung names in history. In India, the general public and peace loving citizen hate to take the name of Ravan or Kamsa! They were the most notorious demons who lived once in this world. Likewise, we witness many in this Kaliyuga, the darkest period of earth!
Nowadays, there is hardly a political leader who is concerned with the peace and well beings of society. The reason is ‘stark materialism” which pervades the mindset of most of the political leaders in the world. Baring one or two, leaders want to safeguard their power and position. “At any cost”, seems to be the chant of most of the leaders. They do not feel for the billions of poor children who die due to diseases and malnutrition. Had they cared to spend one percent of their budget for defense and space missions, no child will die. Billions of Dollars and Pounds go into the manufacture, maintenance and use of weaponries in theatres of war. Newer and newer weapons of war are invented for the safe annihilation of entire human race! What they are going to achieve by destroying the world many times by the stock piles of atomic bombs? Have we not witnessed the terrific effects of atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
If the world leaders have not learned their lessons, it is like the bad judgement of the Captain which destroys the ship full of passengers!
Today, none understand the power of human values and virtues. We are the highest in creations. Yet we act as the lowest of animal species. This is the tragedy of current affairs on earth. Merely singing “Alleluia in Churches, “Allah Akbar” in the mosques, “Hare Ram, Hare Krishna in the Hindu temples won’t do. Let us become true human beings with Love and compassion in our Heart. Let us not hurt any even in our thoughts and words. Oh Leaders of the World! Remember that God is one and He is Omnipresent! Call Him by any names. Pray Him for world peace sincerely. He alone can make the world wholesome and peaceful once again alike the peaceful paradise on earth! Let pious and good people unite to pray for the Lord to descend on Earth to save the world from the catastrophes created by ignorant and greedy politicians on earth!
