Thought for the Day - Sunday (Your Secret World)

We all have days when we need to escape from the world into our refuge; our safe place, which we will have created and it can be anywhere in the world because it is only in our mind, - it is unassailable and free from corruption, from pain and coercion. It could be my field and stream, the beach in the evening with the feel of the sand between your toes and the cry of the gulls or the safe, warm community of parts of London and other big cities, not so long ago. It may be in the mind of the abused child, where the filthy attic is the only refuge, the sparrows at the grimy window and the soft coo of the pigeons your only friends. Everyone can find their sanctuary, their retreat from the terrors of life. It has been my mental salvation many times when the world seems to have gone mad and compassion and humanity seems so far away.

In the real world do not, however, give way to those who would destroy our way of life. The drug barons, the muggers, rapists, mindless thugs and other filth that despoil our streets must be neutralised and if our Government is too weak willed to do it they must be persuaded otherwise. Eventually if enough of the people speak they will have no option but to listen. However if you are young/old, weak or being bullied or abused then talk to someone who you can trust, or the police who you will find are far more sympathetic and protective than you would think. Never suffer, you are far too precious.

Do you feel the need to get away from the stresses of the world?

Thank you for your kind comment.

We all need our sanctuary, our place to reflect free of all pressure however frightened or oppressed we may be.

      Kind regards Peter.

      Dear Peter,

This was a powerful pause as I start my morning, filled with wisdom, insight and compassion. Well - penned. Voted UP and UABI.

You are so right Yoginijoy - my special place is a real place. It was a small cove on the bend of the river Sid in Devon where I would spend many tranquil hours curled up with a book just listening to the gentle trickle of the crystal clear water.

      Kind regards Peter

Beautiful! You are so right! Everyone needs to have their special little place, whether a real spot next to a stream in Nature, or in your imagination where you can be completely yourself with no judgements or expectations. I also meditate daily and that helps me stay mindful and grateful for all the small beautiful moments in life. Stay positive and keep recharging yourself, it is just as important as getting things done (and maybe more so)!

I agree...gotta have those places of comfort where one can hide and get some time to think and ponder on our present and our future.

      good one, peter!

      Thanks again writer20

During my recent serious illness when my world was a mass of drug induced dreams and seemingly endless pain the only thing that kept my sanity was to retreat into my little world curled into the warm sunshine in my green, green field with the trickling stream sound gentle in my ears. When it seemed I couldn't stand it any longer my world supported me and gently allowed me to step back from the abyss. The power of the mind can be truly amazing sometimes.

      Take care kind regards Peter

I couldn't agree with you more. If it couldn't here it would be a mircale.

      Voted up and awesome.
