To Lose Faith is not losing God

Updated on March 5, 2010

Staying Close to God

My title is probably going to stir up a mixture of emotions but maybe by the time my blog is through, we will all have the same idea of what faith really is to each of us!

When I hear someone say " dont lose your faith" I hear that one should not think negative and to keep optimistic thoughts! What I dont read into it is that one will stop believing in God because of the trials and stress!

The next word that comes to mind is back-slide! As a southern baptist growing up in North Carolina, that word was bothersome!! To turn your back on God?? To maybe slide back away from God? Now you see as teens it is very easy to do, however a true believer in God is not really backing away from God but maybe just not looking to him!

All in all we believers could mince words the day long, but what we as a witness for God needs to do is try to keep peoples faith and hope up so that they can feel, see, and touch the spiritual hand of God!

Life is tough at times and many I have known have lost faith in mankind, themselves, jobs and sometimes their church! Staying close to God, looking toward God made for restored faith in themselves and the courage to make change in the above mentioned!

Being a child of God, a christian or believer in God , does not imply perfection, in fact it would be more accurate to describe us as imperfect but staying close to himĀ  so that he can touch us and make us the better person that our father knows we can be! Honest, compassionate, helpful and kind are among some of the words to best describe what a father wants from his children!

So never fear, when you feel low and losing faith in many ares of your life......Look to God for the love and understanding, stay close to him for his spiritual hugs and listen for him as he has your best interest at heart! It may take time to completely unravel to you his wishes.....but the answers will come.

During the low periods within your life, it is best to try to be around positive people with the love of God with them..........His love is also contagious!

Don't worry Be happy

Mia

well said!!! God never abandons us, even when we do! Loosing faith/sight of Him truly means that we turned away from him, not necessarily that he turned away from us.

There is faith as in believing in Him and knowing He will help us through things in our life and then there is a leap of faith. As in faith is action. So when we know God is guiding us to do something we can take that leap of faith and do it.

Mia an old man told me once that faith is not faith until it is all you have to hang onto. I have never forgotten that. And mine wavers all the time. But in the end I stick with God because I am not that smart.

WOW, what can I say, but truth comes to me in this way. When we began to have faith in people, jobs, churches etc. this becomes very dangerous. Simple because, as we become disappointed with them, we become confused in our thinking by believing we lost faith in Christ. When really it is our focus and thinking that deceives us..People are not here for us to have faith in because we are human and we are incapable of perfection. God however is perfect and our love for him helps us to strive to be like him and that is the only way we can love others but never can we have faith in them. Our faith must be completely on Christ. I read daily on God's words and still I can be deceived by the enemy. Thank you for helping me understand the truth. God Bless

Mia its my first time to read your little blog. In fact i was goggling about people sliding back away from God and i came across this. It is really good info and i've learnt from it a lot and from the comments by colleagues. I'e realized that it is easy to slide away from God if we ignore His good voice and abandon praying and reading the bible. Thanks a lot God bless you.

Mia, great article and I really can't add much except the time I spent walking apart, was not a loss of faith, but a loss of obedience to the word, he never left me and continued to carry me through times I was too dim witted to look to him. He offered a covenant to me, I asked for the easy yoke and the light burden, he granted that to me. I finally figured out that when my burden was heavy and times, dark, it was my choice not his. When I turned back he was waiting with open arms. I still have days of trouble, as does everyone, in the end he will do away with them and dry every eye. God Bless, 50

      Sir Dent

Always nice to see a comment from you. Thank you for reading my little blog.

When i wrote this ...less than a year ago.....I had pretty much lost faith in our government, churches and the many people that are in my world. I became closer to God and by no means lost any faith in God. With Gods powerful love, I was able to continue to have patience and tolerance with others. However I do tend to write with a bit of friendly debate and controversy. I really love hearing others thoughts and feelings.

Have a great weekend and wishingUwell

To lose faith is human. One thing for sure, is that God could never do that. Thus the reason to look to God and understand what he has done for us, and he continually looks after us, even when we are as low as possible, and turn to him again as he begins to shine from within.

One thing about faith that you didn't mention. Faith come sby hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Most who lose faith do so because they fail to hear God's Word. Some on purpose and others because they are unable to do so. God knows which is which.

All in all, this is a good hub. I would like to see more written on the subject, personally.

I read recently that Mother Teresa had lost her connection with God at about the same time as she started working in Calcutta. (You can read about it on time.com - look for the article called "Mother Teresa's Crisis of Faith")

Can you imagine doing the work she did for as long as she did it while lacking this spiritual connection? It just highlights the amount of internal strength and courage she possessed!

Here's a quote that's fitting: "I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much." - Mother Teresa

Yes, God is the source of energy. When we loose faith in ourselves, parents, children, church or job cling to God. He will restore our faith.

      Well said.

      Thanks
