Too Early Spring
Too Early Spring
Too early spring
and harvest glow,
looking for hope
never to know,
Too early spring
innocence lost
Came too early winter
dying frost,
Summer gone but a shame
Should it have been
a long great stand,
Yet too early spring
here the child sees
Days of granduer
Triumphs and glories,
unachieved,
covered by winters snow.
brief
Over the last 37 years I have seen children forced to grow up way too soon. World conditions have all but destroyed the family around the world. Consider the tragedies around the world.
- Drunkenness
- Abusive parents
- absent parents
- HIV/Aides in Africa
- Drug abuse
- Abortion
- Starvation
- Disease
- Famines
- WARS
- Floods
- Earthquakes
- Child pornography
- Child slavery
- Child prostitution
- Teen pregnancy
- Children raising children
As I approach my birthday number 52, I reflect back to this poem I wrote at 15 years old. Many writers use the yearly seasons as a description of life, spring the beginning and winter the end. But, for many children, spring comes TOO early.
