A List Of Good Christian Books

After writing my hub called Five Books A Christian Should Read, I realized that there were far more books out there and that I could name a few more perhaps. So without further ado here are some more books which are noteworthy.

Gladys Aylward: Missionary To China by Sam Wellman is the biography of Gladys Aylward who was bravely went to China by herself to spread the good news of the gospel. Of course as these things do happen when you are a servant of the Most High, many miracles took place in her life and she was able to do the work of God as she was called to do. it is an inspiring story of faith.

God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew with John and Elizabeth Sherrill is yet another true story of a Christian who obeyed god and did mighty things i his name. Brother Andrew was one of those Christians who bravely went behind the Iron Curtain to spread the word of God to those who so wanted and needed to hear it. Faced with danger on every side, he was protected because he was about God's work.

This is the autobiography of Hudson Taylor who was the founder of the China Inland Mission. In his own words it tells of his salvation, his faith and what mighty deeds the Lord did for him. Once again this is a book that will lead a Christian back to the Bible to re-new their faith.

The Holy War is yet another classic from John Bunyan.It tells the tale of the place called Man-Soul and its leader King Shaddai, when the King is away Man-Soul allows the ruler known as Diabolous and his men to take over the city. Shaddai's Son Emmanuel comes to set the city free from the evil reign of Diabolous and rid them of their misery and sin. Bunyan is gifted indeed but his gift comes from the heavenly Father, for once again it is a mirror held up for us to see ourselves, realize who we are and what we do and repent.

Journey to Hell is another of Bunyan's tales. this time it tells of Mr Badman and starts from the day of his birth to the day of his death. it shows how men often feign repentence, how it is possible for men to love wickedness and sin and that evil truly exists. This is a tale of warning once again he warns of what could be in the life of a man. I am reminded of the chapter in Ezekiel 3:18-21

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

It is written in true Bunyan style and I may not have been able to put it down if the Bible did not call me so and if it too did not seem to shout from its very pages to go to that Holy Book.
