Unlimited God, Samson A Case Study
Introduction
There is a parable that says, “it is the person who does not know the king, who underrates the king”. When people do not know something, there is tendency that one would look down on the thing, tramples the thing under one’s feet, but immediately one knows the worth and the importance of the thing one’s disposition to the thing would change.
As widely accepted as America dollars is, those who are living in the rural areas, and some people who are not internationally connected neither having anything to do with foreign currencies, when they see America dollars, they will not attach importance to it, because they do not know the worth. However, when they know the worth, they will start looking for it and by then it may be late, or they may not easily get the dollars again.
It is no understatement that there are still some in the world who do not believe there is God, they believe the world emerges somehow and that there are no special One, neither any powerful One controlling the world, there is no one who created the world.
Many people with a belief as this hinge their believe on the evolution theorem and other related theorems.
However, history has it that there was once a man who lived in the world whose physical mightiness, physical power cannot be matched by anyone living in the world during his days. Even though during this man’s day’s the world is being infiltrated by some powerful and mighty people those who are being raised up and empowered by some spiritual beings and powers outside Yahweh, yet when all those people gathered together, their physical strength during the time that this man was alive cannot match the man’s physical strength.
And up till this moment, the archeologists having seen some of the things the man did, some of the loads he moved and where he placed the load, they assert that out of all the people begotten of woman, out of all the people begotten through the mixture of the males sperm and females eggs, no one can match the man in physical strength.
The person I am talking about is called Samson by his parents. I shall write some things about this man here and point us to the limitless nature of God as could be found in the strength Yahweh blessed the man with.
Bringing Someone To Speed About The Incidents Before His Birth
The history concerning this man’s birth, according to Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary happened around 1160-1155 BC.
Israelites have gotten to the promised land, Canaan land, the land promised unto Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by God. After they got into the land and the people who saw what the Lord did in the wilderness all died, the people of Israel started behaving as they like, they were not following the laws of the Lord to letters again as expected of them.
“In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” (Jdg 17:6)
This attitude of theirs’ does grieve God such that he will sell (means make their enemies overpower them and conquer them and they would become slaves under) them into the hands of their neighboring enemies. Those enemies will punish them for years before God looked upon them and raise a deliverer for them.
This was the position of the nation when a man from the tribe of Dan called Manoah went and take to wife a woman from among the Israelis. The husband and wife were in love and harmoniously living but God closed the womb of the woman as she was barren.
They were doing all the needful according to the law of the Lord and expecting God to visit them, to answer their prayers by opening the womb of the woman. But this did not happen immediately, albeit they never relent in trusting the Lord, they never backed out, they did not follow the multitude to do evil.
“And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.” (Jdg 13:2)
Some of us when have prayed for a while we shall back out and would go and join others who do not fear God to do what God does not want, “after all I have given all to his service, and if I backed out now, he supposes not to be annoyed”, that is what some will say among us.
The husband, Manoah and his wife never doubted the authenticity of God, they did not doubt his power, they knew he can do and undo, they knew he alone has the power to do for them what they want, what they are expecting.
As they, Manoah and his wife continued to wait on the Lord, the Israelites too continue to suffer, however, it seems the Israelis have been wearied of their suffering and they have repented and been calling on the name of the Lord for deliverance.
God hearkened to their voice and decided to send a deliverer to them, but he looked at all the people living then and couldn’t find anyone who will fit in to his scheme, thus he decided to send someone to the world to deliver them.
Searching through the hearts of all Israelis, he found a family who is yet obedient to his law, and who has been looking unto his face for child and he sends his angel to the family.
God’s angel visited Manoah’s wife first and delivered God’s message to her, that she would take in, he told her that her womb has been opened and she would become pregnant. However, the reason for him being sent to her was not because she would take in, the reason for which he has come to her is to tell her that the child she would be pregnant of is a special child and the child has special assignment in the world to carry out for he is the expected deliverer of the people of God.
To ensure that he carries out the work effectively, you as the mother, who would be in direct custody of the child need to take proper care of the child ensuring that he does not take strong drinks and other contaminated meals because he would be a Nazareth unto his God. In addition to this, the angel said, the woman too should ensure that immediately she notices that she has taken in, she should not take any strong drink.
“And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
“Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
“For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” (Jdg 13: 3-5)
The woman could not keep the word to herself, thus, immediately she gets to her husband what she heard, and saw were divulged unto him.
Herein shall we see the kind of woman she was, for assuming she was to be some kinds of other women, she would not tell her husband what she had seen, she would through this start saying she also is some kind of prophetess.
She humbly told her husband what was spoken unto her by the angels because she knows that the responsibilities of raising up a child (or children) lie on both parents not on a single parent except in case of death or some unforeseen circumstances that brought about separation of both wife and husband.
When she told her husband what happened that day, the husband was happy, blessing the name of the Lord for remembering them for good. The man was not envious of his wife, he did not say how could the angel go to his wife but not coming to him first.
Instead of some men to reason along with their wives they wouldn’t but they would start envying their wives, they would create some stupid scenes at their homes for God revealing himself unto the woman first.
When we start unhealthy jealousies within our family, there would be problems, the family would head for the rocks, but when we see ourselves as one, working and walking together in unity, even the devil will flee from our abode.
The man blessed the Lord for what he has done, and he prayed that God should send the angel to him too because he wants to ask some questions from the angel and of course to worship the angel.
God hearkened unto his prayer and he sends the angel to them again. As at the first instance, the angel appeared unto the woman again because it was the woman who knew the kind of man (person) she saw at the initial, if the angel appears unto man, scene may be created before the man agrees that the angel was the one his wife was talking about. God does not want such scene to be created as such the angel was sent to the person who have at the initial receive the message.
“Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
“But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
“Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
“And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.” (Jdg 13: 6-9)
The unity of the family could again be seen when the angel appeared unto the woman again. When the woman saw the angel, she runs to go and call her husband that the person she talks to him about has appeared again.
What this woman did here shows that she agrees with her husband when he was praying the prayer, for assuming she did not agree with him, she wouldn’t go and call her, she would be saying, it means my husband doubts what I said unto him yesterday or last week.
It is very important that we be united as wife and husband, when we are united, we shall bring heaven to our homes.
Poll 1: Relationship
What is the relationship between you and your spouse?
“And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.
“And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.
“And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?
“And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
“She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.” (Jdg 13:10-14)
Something is worth of note that happened here, and it is that in the entire length of the documentations of the bible you cannot find a place where the same angel appears twice to a person physically like it happened to Manoah’s wife. This shows the importance of the message God was placing in her hands.
When something happened twice in the spiritual realm, it shows importance, it shows that such a thing should not be toyed with, the psalmists says, “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” (Psa 62:11)
What the psalmists say here is that when God speaks once, it would reverberate, resonate repeatedly such that you will hear it more than once.
However, consider what happens here, such that an angel be physically sent twice to a person, and not even a prophet neither a prophetess, but a dutiful woman, a respectful woman, a loving woman, a caring woman, a woman who values and respects her husband above any other person in their world.
When a woman respects and cares for her husband, her life would be distinct God would go extra mile for such a woman to ensuring that all she asks for gets to her. One of the problems we have these days is that our women do not respect their husbands again, yet they will keep saying they are full of the Holy Spirit, they will keep saying they are spirit filled and be speaking with many tongues, and for not placing their hubbies at the right position in their lives and homes God would also leave them to continue to do what is not right, God would leave them to suffer.
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” (Rom 1:28)
Do you know that your suffering as a woman, a wife in the home may be because you have not placed your husband at the right position in your heart and life? If you can change today, I am sure that all those negativities appearing in your life would change too.
When the husband gets to the angel, he asks him if he was the person who appeared unto his wife at the first time, and the man said he was the one. He asked him to tell them what they need to do to bring the child up in the way of the Lord for they do not want to go against the will of God.
The angel told them that what he said initially stands and that the wife should keep to those sayings.
As the custom of the land, Manoah implores the man to wait a while so that they would prepare some meals for the man before he leaves, because he does not know that he was interacting with the angel of God.
The angel replies that he won’t take anything, and he suggests that what he should do was making a burnt offering unto the Lord, he and his wife should praise Yahweh for uncommon grace they have received of him.
He asked for the name of the angel, perhaps to reference him when the deed was completed, when the miracle happens but the angel said his name is secret, he doesn’t need to know his name.
The angel does not tell him his real name because he does not want him to worship him, they have been directed never to worship an image of things in heaven neither any being but what they should do is worshiping the Lord their God only, Yahweh.
Poll 2: Worship
Who do you worship?
“And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.” (Deu 4:19)
“If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant,
“And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;
“And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel:
“Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.” (Deu 17:2-5)
God will never break his words, he builds on his words, therefore, so that this family would not be cornered by the devil’s deceptions as he did to our fore-parents in the garden of Eden, he did not tell them his name, because he does not want them to worship him but to worship Yahweh alone who has hearkened unto their voice and done that wonderful thing for them.
When you worship things in the firmament, you are transgressing the law of the Lord, you are making God sick and angry with you. If you are one of those who yet do that, please repent today and accept Jesus into your life.
He and his wife prepare the meat offering and as they were making the offering unto the Lord, the angel disappears that was when they knew that the person, they were dealing with was an angel of God.
“And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
“And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.
“And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, what is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
“And the angel of the LORD said unto him, why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
“So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
“For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
“But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
“And Manoah said unto his wife, we shall surely die, because we have seen God.
“But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
“And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
“And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.” (Jdg 13: 15-25)
After this the bible says the angel did not appear unto them again. The man was afraid and thought that they would die, but the woman allayed his fear telling him that God is not like humans who will be playing with the person they will kill, whomsoever God wants to kill he will not play with the person neither receives offering from the hand of the person.
The husband was contented with this reply, his fears gone and not long afterwards the woman took in and gave birth to a son called Samson.
After given birth to Samson they started nurturing him in the ways of the Lord and they strictly keep to all that the angels have told them to do. According to the injunctions of Prophet Moses that they should teach their children what they are doing, they also told Samson what he needs to do and what he needs not to do apart from the normal laws of the Lord that he and other Israeli children are being exposed to.
“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” (Deu 6:7)
Few Things To Note About Samson
When Samson grew old, and he was living alone, he started deviating from the ways of the Lord that his parents have exposed him to. One out of all his deviant attitudes reveal the unlimited God unto those who have at a time or another read through this book.
1. Abuse Privilege
Samson’s behaviors when he grew up were opposite to the laws of God and the rules that his parents have handed over unto him while he was under them. I think he was doing this because he was not very sure of the effects of those things that his parents have told him on the maintenance of his power. Having done some without serious consequences he continued to live his life as he wants ignoring what has been told him before.
“And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.
“And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.” (Jdg 14:8-9)
God through prophet Moses told them that they should flee from carcasses because touching carcass of anything would make them unclean. This the man knows, and that was why he did not tell his parents when he took the honey from it, because he does not want them to scold him neither reject what he was offering them.
“And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.” (Lev 11:24)
This is an example of one of the things he did which he was not punished for by God, thus he thought he could do and undo, and after a while he started doubting of the importance of the hair on his head too until he leaks the secret to the enemy.
2. Unlimited God
It is awesome knowing that the source of power of Samson is in the hairs on his head. This is contrary to the science of their day and science of today. Science shows that source of power would be related to muscle building and some other trainings, but this is not the case with Samson, the source of his power is on the seven hairs of his head. This shows how great the Lord is. It shows that the Lord can use what people do not put their minds on to do great things.
It was because people couldn’t imagine where his power lies that they had to contact the harlot he was involved with to ask him for the secret of his power.
As a believer and someone who believes in God, this would show us that this God is mighty and there is nothing he cannot do or use to bring to pass his plan for his own children.
3. He Thought it Would Be Like Before
When the enemies instigate his concubine against him, having been misusing the privilege he was given before without consequences, he after much pressure from the lady told her the source of his power for he thought the Lord would have mercy on him and would save him as he has been doing unto him before.
“And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
“And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
“And Delilah said to Samson, tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
“And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
“Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
“Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
“And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
“And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
“Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
“And Delilah said unto Samson, hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
“And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
“And she said unto him, how canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.
“And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
“That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
“And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
“And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
“And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” (Jdg 16:4-20)
For he thought there won’t be consequences that was why the bible says he said I will arise like before. He though arose as he used to, shake his body, but it was too late, because he did not know that God has left him.
There is always a limit to everything in life. If you have been doing what is not right and God has been cautioning you but has not punished you for what you are doing, you should think and desist from the act because continuing to do what is not expected will result in negative end one day as it happened unto Samson.
4. His Head Cleared
After misusing the privilege and saying what he ought not to say which I said stem out of the fact that he does not attach much importance to the hair before, he perhaps would sometimes have been thinking that all that his parents were telling him was a fluke, lies, but after he trod on the path he ought not to tread and he was apprehended by the enemies his head became cleared and he knows how he has misused the many privileges he has been given.
5. Outsiders (Enemies) Marveled
His enemies marveled after getting him because they never knew the source of his power could be “hair”. They have would have been thinking that the source is elsewhere, he has hair as we all have hair, they would have said but never imagined that if anything could happen to the hair the most dreaded man would become powerless like a dead lion.
6. He Learnt in A Hard Way
He has not believed that anyone neither group of people could beat him before not to talk of his eyes being removed. This was because on countless number of occasions has this been tried but without success, but when he fumbled, he was brought low and those who couldn’t withstand him before started beating him such that they eventually remove his eyes from his sockets.
“And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
“And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
“And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.” (Jdg 15:13-15)
He killed thousands here because God was still with him but when he misbehaved and God left him he knew what it means for God to be with a man.
“But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.” (Jdg 16: 21)
You should know that when you continue to live in sin, when you continue to do what the lord does not sanction terrible things wait for you in the future and it will happen when you do not expect.
Therefore, now that you still have time to repent, now that you still have time to make amends of your ways and listen to the Gospel you should listen and be saved. And for those who have known the way before, those who have known what is good but who aren’t doing them, you should repent and start doing those things approved by God as from thenceforth.
7. Broken Down
After he was left by the Lord, and the enemies arrested him, after several beatings, such a beating that he has never experienced in the hands of anyone before either in company or singly, he then understood his error, he saw himself, and acknowledges that he was nothing assuming God has not been with him all this while.
We need to know that we are also nothing without the Lord. All that we have, those things we are doing, we can do them because the Lord is with us, assuming the Lord is not with us, the enemies would have triumphed over us, we would have been silenced.
8. His Mind Drew Near To God: In the position he was in detention, he knows God better, he saw his folly and started seeking the Lord where he was. When we draw near unto the Lord, he will draw near unto us.
He started feeling the power come over him like before because “the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.” (Jdg 16:22)
Poll 3: Err
Have you made a mistake like Samson and you think it is all over with you?
Poll 4: If Yes
Do You believe you can be restored?
If you can have a faith like that of Samson that it is not all over with you, I want to tell you that you will have that thing which your heart says. And if you think it is all over with you, I want to tell you that you shouldn’t believe what the devil is telling you for it is the devil that is echoing that into your ears, he wants to keep you in perpetual bondage, you need to shake off the thought off thine heart and you will be delivered. The God who delivers Samson will also deliver you, his arms are wide spread waiting for you to embrace you and welcome you and remove all your shame.
9. He Has Faith
On noticing that his hair has started to grow, he started having the feelings he was having before, but the enemies never knew this, they thought since his hair have been shaved and such has not occurred to him before he has been rendered powerless and he couldn’t stand up again. But he knew that God has arrived, and that he is with him. He has a complete faith in that God at the last hour of his life.
A person that has no faith wouldn’t receive much from God, it is a man who has faith that would receive something from God. Do you wish to be delivered? Then you need to have faith in the Lord that he will do that for you.
“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:” (Heb 11:32)
10. He Exercises Faith
Having something but not using it is as not having it at all. A person who has money to pay his tax but fails to pay until his company is sealed by tax collectors acted like a poor man. After paying the tax and the store becomes opened it is likely he would have lost some things. Such a person is not wise.
This man, Samson, at the time that matters he exercises his faith. What he was doing before now could be said to be interwoven between faith and his human confidence (reposed in the physical strength he had). How do I mean? What I mean is that he knows then that he has the power and he is being moved by the power, he knows what he can do with the power he has, thus he does not need much of faith to put this into use then until when the enemies cornered and overtook him.
Think about this illustration for example, a child who knows that 1+1=2 and he has been showing that does not need to exercise faith while answering the question in an exam hall or during a quiz. In the same vein is it with anyone who knows that he is good in an act, such a one may not need to exercise some faith before doing the work but a person who doesn’t know, that person will exercise faith, would have to look unto God for assistance to be able to do such thing.
Samson before he fell was not using much of faith at some instances, but he believed in the strength that he has been given, but when he has apprehended and imprisoned with his eyeballs removed, he exercises faith.
Though he knows that the hair has started to grow again, though he could feel the strength, though he could feel God’s presence like as it was before, but he again exercises faith during this time.
“And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
“Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
“And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
“And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
“And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.” (Jdg 16:26-30)
We know he exercises his faith here because
(i) He took step
He asks the person who was with him to lead him to where he would be able to touch the pillars on which the Amphi-theater was resting on. This is a step of faith, for if he does not ask for such assistance, he would not be able to get there neither would he be able to do what he did.
(ii) He Prayed
Another step that would show that someone is exercising faith is when the person cries unto the Lord in prayer. Praying unto the Lord is an act of faith. This is not common of all that he was doing before, he hardly commits his steps into God’s hands before taken them, but when the un-imaginable happens he learnt in a hard way and committed his moves into the hand of the Lord.
(iii) Absolute Reliance
His prayers show that he absolutely relies on Yahweh now unlike before that he was usually subsumed with the strength he possesses.
Poll 5: Reliance
Do you rely on God absolutely for all you do?
God sees that he has relied on him wholly and he does not turn him down, he answered him to letters and did beyond his imaginations for him.
11. Significant of The Hair
Samson knows the significant of the hair on him. He knows that God was testing his obedience when he told him through his parents that he shouldn’t allow anything to touch the hair. But because he failed the test of obedience as our fore parents failed in the garden he couldn’t be left without suffering, he couldn’t be left without undergoing pains, and rejection like our fore-parents.
From this we shall see that the style of the Lord is still the same. God rejected and cast away our fore parents from the garden when they disobeyed him, this he will also do for anyone who disobeys him today.
Poll 6: Obedience
Are you an obedient child of God?
God wants us to be an obedient child, he cherishes anyone who is an obedient child. In what so ever way that we may have been going against him and disobeying him, we should please reconsider our stance today and return to him.
As I close,
God shows the world then and now how unlimited in all ways he is by putting the source of the physical power he gave unto Samson in his hairs. No one could fathom such in the then world, for assuming they could they would have apprehended him before the time they used the woman for him.
He is again today showing how unlimited he is in all ways by outpouring of his Holy Spirit on all believers all over the world.
People have been trying to unravel the mystery behind Holy Spirit as such we have heard so many things being said by many people, we have seen people feigning holy Spirit, but they all failed because Holy Spirit is all or none, you either have Him in you or you do not have Him in you, He cannot be feigned.
Those who do not believe in God could not unravel the mystery behind what God did through Samson and today, they still could not unravel the mystery behind the Holy Spirit and they never would.
