What Must I Do To Be Saved????

Mankind instinctively knows that there is something missing in life. There is an empty hole deep inside. We think reaching our goals, achieving our dreams, finding that special someone or fulfilling some other desire will somehow fill that empty hole.

Although our accomplishments are satisfying, we find that none of these things can quite do it.....they hide the empty hole for a little while, glossing over it, deceiving us into thinking the empty hole is filled. But, after a while, we are back to the beginning; feeling that emptiness once again.... What is it? What is IT! What can fill that hole???

The majority of people admit they believe in God or a higher power or some eternal "something" that exists beyond themselves. Many do not, but most do. The question then becomes, "How do I access this "something"?" Is this "something" personal? Is it a thing? An intelligent being? Is it a process or a happenstance?

Organized religion says the "something" is an eternal intelligent being who at some point in history sent a representative to earth. Christianity says this representative was Jesus Christ.....true God and true Man.

Christianity is the only religion that does not require the creation, (man) to make a sacrifice in order to connect with their God. No other religion has a God who does not require His people to prove themselves worthy. No other religion claims to their God debased himself and became as His creation out of love for that creation. Christianity is the only faith in which the Creator sacrificed for His creation, and, all you have to do is believe.

Christianity says all mankind wound up in a mess because of the actions of the first man. And, like a plague the consequences from the actions of the first man passed onto everyone..... There is no escaping the affect of this transgression. Everybody who is born or who will be born into the world is stained with it.

So, with the stain of this transgression being passed onto everyone it will look identical on everyone. It will also require the same removal solution. Christianity says the solution is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ; and, Jesus said, "Come unto me all who labor and who are heavy laden and I will give you rest". _{Matthew 11:28}

NOW YOU KNOW....NOW WHAT?
With this knowledge, you can finally fill that empty hole....God created mankind so He could dwell in them and fellowship with them. That empty hole is shaped like God. Only He can fill it. This isn't "deep", or difficult to understand, it is easy. God created a race that was like Himself....the race of mankind is that race. All He, (God) wants is to have you come to Him and let Him love you..... Won't you come??? Here is how it is done.

1. First believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sin and that He rose from the dead.
2. Let God know that you have an empty hole, that you are separated from Him and you want to connect with Him.
3. Tell God that you believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated the power of sin, and that Jesus is Lord over all.
4. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and to be your Lord and Savior.

The prayer might go like this:

Dear God, I come to you recognizing that I am a sinner in need of salvation. I renounce all sin. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for me and that He rose from the dead. Jesus, come into my heart, be my Lord and my Savior. I receive you now as my personal Lord and Savior right now. Thank you Father God for saving me......

Congratulations!!!! If you prayed that prayer from your heart, you are now saved!!!As simple as that sounds is as simple as it is....all of the theology and particulars come after this decision. Now, you have the power to act make the changes in your life that need to be made.

The next step is to read the Bible, start with the gospel of John. Next, pray daily. Prayer is a conversation with God. So, no matter how simple your prayer may be do it anyway. Finally, find a church home which teaches the Word of God and believes in the New Testament.
