When God Measures A Man
The Lord seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward apprearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart ~ISamuel 16:76~
The Condition of one's heart is far more important than his physical appearance. When I read this scripture, it made me think of the story of David, and how he became king. Such a wonderful story, you see David was the youngest son born to the house of Jesse, a Bethlemite, and the Bible describes him as being small in stature. Sure David had his flaws, but this article isn't about that. This is about God choosing David in spite of his small stature. David had other things going for him despite his size and appearance. David, at such a young age was skilled in battle, wise, and most of all he had a big heart. It was his heart, that indeed won God's heart.
In the story, God spoke to Samuel and told him to , "go to the house of Jesse and choose a king, because there was indeed a king in the house of Jesse". Samuel then went to the house of Jesse, met Jesse's sons, and immediately became worried. Samuel was confused. He then asked Jesse were these all of his sons and Jesse replied that he had one more. The youngest son, "David", was in the fields with the sheep. Samuel, upon seeing David, knew and declared him king. The Lord spoke to Samuel and told him to anoint David King. What a joy to know that God only judges the condition of our heart. We don't have to be the biggest or the brightest for God to choose us. All it takes is a sincere heart and made up mind. David may not have been grand in stature, but his heart was fit for king.
May God add a blessing to all whom read these words.
