Who Is Christ To Me
The essay below was written around 5 years ago when I applied for a job position at World Vision Philippines. I was in dire need of a job back then and although I was not expecting to be hired (considering the vacancy was in Philippines and I have applied from India) I still submitted an application not only because I was qualified for the job but also because I wanted to experience applying and get interviewed online. So I tried. Part of the application was to write a 200-word essay about Jesus Christ, to answer the question "How would you describe your personal relationship with Christ?"
It really took me a while to get started (as I always do). That time I wasn't a Christian anymore although I considered Jesus Christ as one of the greatest figures in history among Gandhi and Buddha.
So, what happened to the application? I don't know. I didn't even receive an acknowledgment from them, you know, the automated letter that says "Thank you for your interest to work with us" kind of thing. Anyway, I didn't bother checking from them.
The Essay "Who Is Christ To Me"
"I see Christ as a dear friend who calls to me from the pages of time immemorial, a sincere friend who shares with me His experiences and the universal wisdom He gathered as He walked through the days of His life. I see Him as a companion who is ever present by my side, guiding me by His principles, revealing to me the knowledge and mystery of life, and always inspiring me to share the glorious wonders of God's creation with all my fellow beings. In every waking moment, Christ talks to me and shows me the way to love my fellow brothers and sisters, however erring and evil sometimes they may be, and in the darkness of my sleep, He lights my dreams and gives me the power and strength to stay on the path of righteousness, however difficult sometimes it maybe. Christ is not only my comrade in life but also my teacher who makes me realize that whatever I do is only good in so far as it makes the world better, and the only deeds worth doing are the ones that are done out of Love. And sometimes when I am alone, it seems Christ is in me, and sometimes among the multitude, it seems that Christ is in all of us, and that the whole world is just a mere reflection of God's great Love for His children."
The whole essay sums up my personal description of Crist. Whether or not it makes the readers understand who is Christ to them better only they can tell. As for me, I liked what I wrote and that is who Christ to me is. And although I view Christ as just a man (not a son of God), a revolutionary man who wanted to change the world, he certainly influenced my thinking positively.
I hope you enjoyed my essay! And if you like to answer the question, "Who is Christ to you?", do leave a comment.
