Who Told You That? Naked and Not Ashamed

Updated on October 19, 2014

Introduction: Naked and Not Ashamed!

I hope you have been encouraged so far in the Lord through the content that you have been introduced to up to this point with the understanding of how crucial it is for you to be knowledgeable of who you are in the eyes of God.

I have probably broken all the rules of writing by jumping out of sequence to point out what Adam was given in relation to “The Garden Commission” upon his life and the benefits of the five-fold responsibility in the life of every man.

I did this because I felt that it was important to highlight what man was and is in the eyes of God. To understand this viewpoint of man is to come to greater levels of appreciation of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Jesus shed His blood on Calvary as a sign of what it will take to walk in our true identity; HE emptied HIMSELF of all that is of the first Adam that HE might display and release unto those that follow HIS teaching, the glory of the latter Adam.

This leads me to this place to be explored regarding the nakedness of Adam and the Woman; and in this section I hope to bring clarification as to why I don’t say Adam and Eve, but refer to the man and the Woman in Genesis before the fall as Adam and the Woman (man with a womb).

Genesis 2:25: “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

Before God does anything in terms of his responsibility towards us; HE places or positions the creation in a beginning, and what is found going on in this account of the man, and the Woman is that they are positioned in a transparent place in God, they are put or planted in the Garden of Eden with the assignment to overtake the whole Earth. The same assignment given to the first man has been given to the body of Christ through Jesus Christ when He said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matt. 28:18-20).

The kingdom of God is to be advanced, not tucked away under a bushel, this is the true position of innocence; the man and the Woman were both naked; and nude, and the man and his wife were not ashamed.

The word ashamed has some interesting denotations associated with it in describing the beginning position of Adam and his wife. The word ashamed in the Hebrew is “buwsh” (Strong’s Concordance) which means, disappointed, delayed, confusion, dry:

  • They were not disappointed
  • They were not delayed
  • They were not in confusion
  • They were not dry (lifeless)

These denotations truly shed light on the position held by the man and his wife, because it reveals that they abode in what should have been a place of rest with God that was free of disappointment, free of delay, free of confusion and free of drought; and if they were to experience or have any of this it would be as a result of their own disobedience and nothing that God had done.

God positions us in a place of rest free of disappointment, delay, confusion and drought, but because of our disobedience to submit to HIS voice we find ourselves thrust out of this place of transparency available to us in the Kingdom of God settling for the mediocrity given to us through religious ceremony that cautions us against taking the word of God too serious; in fact, a person that claims any amount of spirituality is looked upon as being a little too out there, or deep.

God’s word reveals that HE wishes above all that we would prosper and be in health, even as our soul engages this place of prosperity. Our prosperity is attached to the prosperity and positioning of our soul or inward man in conjunction with the Word of God. A man may possess great wealth and still not be prosperous ultimately succumbing to death and destruction. How many times have you witnessed through the news of individuals taking their life when it seems that they had everything going for them? True prosperity is when our soul is rightly aligned to the laws and ordinances of God or the source of our life existence wherein we know without a shadow of a doubt we know who we are.

Adam and his wife were in a wonderful place, but as we will see they lost this position because they subjected themselves to a voice that whispered unto them a misrepresented truth.

Adam is positioned in God and affirmed by God as “good” or in a place of favor. We can be positioned to have the favor of God, which simply means, “If God is for us, HE is more than the whole world against us.” What God has spoken into your life is what’s evident in the mind and consciousness of God to be realized in your earth experience. God cannot see you contrary to how HE thinks of you.

To function in favor is to be positioned for the supernatural dealings of God in your life. Favor is better than money or even a good name. Mostly, favor is not fair, because it says yes when others say no. It opens doors, when others wish to close them. Favor violates the laws of time and space. Favor is better than what you know, and who you know; it is the ability to rest in the power of God knowing that God can make something out of nothing.

Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Moses was empowered with God’s favor, because when the obstacles sanctioned that he should have been overcome, God was able to raise him above all the obstructions confirming that David’s confession in the twenty-third Psalm was in fact the ultimate wealth. Adam was placed in the Garden, and he abode there but was not conscious of his nakedness, in other words, his outward appearance did not capture his attention. Sometimes in the Kingdom of God we have a hard time associating what is our true reality. Man is placed in a natural world that God wants him to relate to supernaturally.

The psalmist that sings the song, “Give Thanks,” hit the nail on the head when he penned the following lyrics:

“Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ His Son. And now let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich, because of what the Lord has done, give thanks.”

That is powerful, you were to be placed in a natural world but God wants you to relate to it on a supernatural scale.

This is what Jesus came to bring back to man’s existence, the ability to be connected to the power resident in the Father or the spiritual realm. If what you do on this planet has you functioning in disappointment, delay, confusion or drought, you will need to do a turn around and go back and get naked before the Lord and be positioned in an awareness that releases the power responsibilities that the kingdom man and woman are to operate in. “How do I get back?” you ask. You get it back by following the Voice of God in the Kingdom of God.

Revelations 3:20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

The assignment of man is “to keep” and “to dress” the Garden in how he or she lives or maintains the power of God in his or her life. In keeping the garden you are meant to be worshippers and to dress the garden; you are to guard or be the watchmen of what God has laid to your charge. This is the only way you can fulfill the commission to be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue and have dominion over the earth.

This is a powerful lesson to strengthen your hand, to bring forth the kingdom of God in greater demonstration to the praise and glory of God our Father.

Before going further into this lesson about what it is that you have in the Lord, I want to jump ahead in the text and unravel what is contained in the line of questioning that God puts to Adam.

Adam was placed in the Garden, he was given a divine start but went opposite of what was spoken to him about life. He partook of fear and began to manifest the cause and affects of that choice.

Genesis 3:10: “And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Adam the Man joined up with Adam the Woman and partook of the fruit from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and the consciousness of death began to shift the focus that was to be on God; but because of this act of treason, the focus was now on the thing that was created and formed. The flesh of Adam became focused upon the natural form of himself with all its disappointment, delay, confusion and drought and now because of this shift in the focus, man finds himself full of dread and uncontrollable fear which has him moving away from God the provider, protector and covering.

Adam is met with a challenge of facing God, but he cannot because he is conscious of his nakedness and therefore has entered into the realm of falsehood and cover up; -- he hid him self, which is another way of saying he lost his identity.

The word “hid” in the Hebrew contains great truth for us when we look at its meaning. In the Hebrew tongue the word hid is “chaba” which means to hide your self, or do secretly.

Adam turned himself into a secret that became affectionate toward the flesh, by hiding it. The focus is now shifted from the supernatural to the natural and the word of God tells us that the natural man savors not what is of God but savors what is of men.

1 Corinthians 2:14: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

God never intended for man to operate on a natural plain, but to have his/her connection with the spiritual wind of creative influence whereby everything is affected by God’s holy wind. In fact you are like a sailboat guided by the wind across the seas, coupled with the craftiness of those who have acquired the skill to position the sails to harness the power of the wind that blows. We too must harness the wind of God’s spirit in directing us to operate by the supernatural empowerment received from the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:14: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

Wow! Man became a secret becoming concealed in an illusion of guilt and shame losing his compass or inner vision for what he was designed by God to be. How many men beat up on them self with condemnation, thinking that is what is needed to appease a holy God? How many go to countless church meetings to be talked down to because they feel that this is what is needed to get that “get right with God” feeling?

In the New Testament the disciples ask Jesus to reveal to them a higher revelation; they said, “Show us the Father!”

Adam and the Woman were responsible to do the same thing but because they exchanged the truth for a lie, they became a creation without a vision or sense of worth, redirected all their energy toward a human consciousness, establishing an allegiance to parents of flesh and blood.

Today we have people who do not know their purpose or for what reason they have been made to appear, because they abide on the planet as a secret. There are many countless men and women locked away in prison because they believed the voice whispering inside them that they were never going to be anything and over time the voice became thought, and thought became visible expression, manifesting to them an outside prison that mirrored an inside reality.

Some hold within themselves endless creative opportunities but because they are out of harmony with what God has set in motion through the living bread, the ideas and creative abilities are overshadowed with multiple levels of earthiness; man has buried his idea under the shroud of fear, death and destruction. The entrepreneurial spirit is not something that belongs to the world, because it is centered in the inner vision of a persons heart, which is the center from which all idea good and evil are birthed. You too may find yourself asking the seemingly endless question, “For what reason have I been born?”

God has placed creative ability within mankind and it is when we are connected with the inner sanctuary, that we can be infused with the power to be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue and have dominion in business, in finance, in all areas of creativity when we join ourselves to the voice that walks in the Garden. Sometimes, men and woman die – a secret!

I will address this in my writing, “I Hid Myself.”

You must ask yourself, “What part do I play in God’s plan to reveal Himself to the masses?”

The question may sound a little self serving, but God created you for His good pleasure (see Ephesians 1:5; vs9) and not for you to experience seventy plus years and then you die, carrying back to your grave a revelation of God that never was uncovered.

When Adam and the Woman partook of that which was forbidden, they became introduced to the law of opposites filling themselves with warfare of what is good verses what is bad; what is right verses what is wrong.
