Who Told You That? Adam A Double Minded Man - Part 2
Adam Became a Double-minded Man
When man is separated from the voice of God, he will be blind to who he is and what his purpose is. Jesus was defined as being the visible expression of the invisible God. Bring glory to God by affirming who you are and not what the serpent tells you.
The Garden is the Old Testament version of the Kingdom of God, and we are responsible to put the kingdom of God on display by the things that we do in our lives. The serpent or the enchanter was successful in persuading Adam to lower his idea or visible expression by connecting to the instruction that came out of the conversation between the Woman and the serpent.
The serpent introduced to mankind the law of opposites when they partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Mankind became aware of opposites and terminology that introduced him to the affects of having a dual mind.
James 1:8: “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
A double mind results in having to split the difference between what is good for us or what is bad for us; God wanted man to operate in righteousness (right standing) which is the divine precept of God to abide in oneness. To be positioned in the righteousness of God is to abide in the will of God. The will of God is the meat referred to in the New Testament when Christ proclaimed that His meat was to do the will of the Father.
The last man Adam also, said it this way, “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matt 4:4).
Man is not to live by physical concepts but he is to be connected to the bread or word of life that comes out of the mouth of God. The river of God courses through our expression to reveal the will of God in our lives and through our lives. This is true worship when we adhere to draw near unto God with a pure heart and a single eye:
James 4:8: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
John 4:23: “But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”
John 4:24: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Matthew 6:22: “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”
Matthew 6:23: “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Ah! What we have available to us in terms of displaying the Kingdom of God. Dr. Myles Monroe, teacher and accomplished author, speaks of the constitution of the kingdom when defining the Bible, it was never meant to give us religion;-this is so true!
When Adam and the Woman hid themselves behind an apron composed of fig leaves, they gave birth to every religious idea known to man that offered an alternative way of approaching God. They gave birth to creeds and doctrines that kept man shut out from the kingdom; belief systems of the soul that create a harder way to get to God.
Adam was positioned in the Kingdom or Garden in a state of innocence; but chose another way; another idea to bring pleasures to himself. Jesus, the last Adam, was positioned to satisfy the Father, not himself. He was in subjection to the Father; laying aside his will for the will of his heavenly Father.
My friend, do you know what the will of God is for you?
The understanding of this is attached to your understanding of how God sees you. You are not an all of sudden thought with God, but He knew you before you even took form in the womb of your mother.
Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Therefore, if we are known of God, we must be confident to know that HE can bring us forth. We do not need another way to get to the end of HIS story unfolding out of us. This is why Jesus is described as the author and the finisher of our faith; not Jesus the man, but Jesus that sits on the right hand of God as an eternal spirit.
I will reference Jeremiah 29:11 many times throughout this teaching because it holds a powerful truth. This text is written during the period of time when God’s people were carried away into captivity in Babylon, the place of confusion. What is any more confused than the church systems of men that make us feel estranged to being known of God. Jeremiah states of God, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you…” Wow! Can you hear this truth? God is not indecisive regarding you. His thoughts predate your existence and are connected to God’s sovereignty. I love this verse because no matter how you state it; you will come away with the assurance that you are known of God.
“The thoughts I think toward you are known of me,” thank you Father. Same word meaning, said a different way, yet confirming that we are in the thought of God.
The Lord positions us in RIGHT FELLOWSHIP, and the responsibility of creation man is to expect increase, because God by HIS thoughts sees an expected end; whether you have one, two or five talents; no matter where you are in your creative expression, you and I have the responsibility to unleash our potential by staying connected with our internal idea of what has been planted within us. Doctors, Engineers, Scientist, Business Persons, Educators, etc., are purposed by God, but we oftentimes do not follow on to know what we are to be in the things of God as an expressed idea on the planet. There are also, voices in the earth that would serve to discourage you from becoming the dream planted in your heart; this is why relationships have to be reviewed with great scrutiny in the Light of Christ.
Adam and the Woman aborted their idea when they chose to hide from the voice of God walking in the Garden. Just as some today hide from the presence of God in terms of doing what God is leading or directing for their life. The woman became lowered by being renamed Eve, “the mother of all living flesh.” In other words, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble” (Job 14:1).
Adam, the woman, became the mis-guided origin of man; for God was the original father (the word of God) and mother (the Spirit of God) of us all; the true source of man’s beginning; being man’s sustenance and substance.
To be naked and not ashamed is to abide in the transparent position where the attention is not on what is outside of our visible expression, but rather on that which is the true source of all existence. Today man is in search of why he is; and oftentimes, he chooses the religious path to find out why he exists only to be filled with the promise of one day, some day. Filled with rituals of do’s and don’ts he follows on to know the institutional fig leaves that offer a systematic approach to what lies beyond the regions of death and the grave and yield unto us that will commit ourselves to religious and worldly teachings to function in a dual mindset, which ultimately leads to death.
The fig leaf or the great cover up seems like the right thing to do, which is the crutch of all religious practice and ceremony to do what is good or right until we die in order that we be prepared for the after life, which is not the message of the Kingdom; -the kingdom of God is now. Remember, the word of God was not to present us with religion; but it was to give us access to the Kingdom of God.
The fig leaves are connected to a plant; a plant is that which grows from the ground; therefore all religious idea is birthed from an earthly consciousness that has its origin in the dust of the ground. One of the most powerful forces in the Earth today is the power and control of religion. The mighty grip of the hand of religion holds its membership under an imaginary gun of influence, better known as fear; taunting its victims with, “I dare you to attempt to be like God.”
