Gratitude is the best attitude
Gratitude is a positive word that refers to positive feelings. Actually gratitude is one of the most top positive feelings that any person can experience. Its positive energy higher than being content state. Since we were too young we been taught that we should thank people and anyone who does anythinh nice to us. Honestly, it was one of the best things we have learned since we were children. We have been taught to show gratitude to people but what about showing real gratitude to Allah SWT. Allah SWT is the best good giver as his names are Al wahhab (The Bestower) and generous (Al kareem). We can never count Allah's blessings towards us. If we just look around us we will see Allah's blessings and generosity like our health, wealth, intellectual abilities, relationships and life. We can never count Allah's blessings as they are so much to be counted. When we show gratitude (shukr) we become closer to Allah SWT. Allah SWT has mentioned about shukr more than seventy times in the Qur'an. Allah SWT says in the Qur'an "Is, then, He Who creates comparable to any that cannot create? Will you not, then, take heed? For should you try to count Allah's blessings, you could never compute them" (An-Nahl 16:17-19). Shaitan's mission is to deprive us being grateful people. The immediate action that Shaintan does after every blessing we receive from Allah SWT is to make us forget to thank Allah or make us believe that we have received that due to our absolute hard working or smart thinking. Our hard working and smart thinking are very important for Allah to grant us rizq but even our hard work and smart thinking are blessings from Allah. Shaitan said: "Then I will certainly come to them from before them and from behind them, and from the right-hand side and from the left-hand side, and You (Allah) shall not find most of them thankful." (Al-Araf 7:17). The opposite of being grateful is kufr (denying). Denying Allah's blessings is a very shameful thing, Allah says whether we are grateful or ungrateful people, Allah SWT wouldn't be affected. We are the only ones who would ripe the benefits of showing grateful attitude to allah SWT. People who are grateful to Allah are those who are true believers. We can show gratitude to Allah SWT by various ways. We can be grateful to Allah with our hearts, tongues and actions as by saying i.e. al hamdlellah (praise Allah), but the most important thing is we must have grateful hearts. We can also be grateful to Allah with our actions by using Allah's blessings in only what pleases Him and refrain ourselves from whatever displeases Him. Allah SWT has mentioned in the Quran that people who make shukr, Allah SWT will give more of that thing. Allah says "And when your Lord proclaimed: 'if you are grateful, I will surely increase you (in favour); but if you deny (disbelieve), indeed, My punishment is severe." Anything we are grateful for would increase and we would get more of that thing. It functions as the law of gravity. Gratitude is a positive feeling. When we show gratitude for things what we already have we feel lucky and blessed. We feel that life is good. The universe acts with the action and reaction principle, so whatever we focus on increase and grow, so we have to be careful of what we focus on. What we give out of actions or emotions we get back more of them. We can say that gratitude is a prayer (supplication) and it is the best prayer. The prophet PBUH used to recite alhamdulellah many times every day as an act of zhikr and that shows how he show appreciation to Allah's blessings. Despite he was granted a great place in jannah and all his sins were forgiven. We can also express our gratitude in relationships as according to a study, people who practice gratitude have better relationships with their spouses, family members and friends. The continuous practice of having gratitude would always make us having positive feelings from inside. The more we have gratitude inside us the more we will be happier people. We can all be more grateful people as Allah's blessings are around us. It's just all we have to do is to open our eyes and look.
