Inspirational, Uplifting and Encouraging Bible Verses: Zechariah 14:9, Christ's Return, Prophecy, "End of the World"

Updated on November 30, 2013

The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name. Zechariah 14:9

The Lord will be king over the whole earth? What then, is He right now? Recall from Genesis the charter He gave to Adam:

“Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26, 28)

In essence, “Here my son, it’s yours, do well with it”.

And what did Adam proceed to do? Same thing I would have done, screwed up and lost dominion. And so we have been and are in an age where God waits until His appointed time to return and clean house. In the interim, He has beamed down once, as a child, to provide required compensation. Compensation such that when He returns again, we have the opportunity to be with Him in a reset scenario where perfect balance is restored to its original state.

“For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:17)

Clean it up and make it right, as it once was. Did some cleanup myself yesterday. I work in a small company, 3 people in my office, much different than the > 1000 in the former. A hectic and busy place, but exciting given the upside potential. My original plan was to jump on some urgent testing and get it done by Monday. That will have to wait until tomorrow AM to ensue, as I realized other things needed doing first. I am, by default, the lab manager, since only myself and my boss use the lab. Noticed it was in disarray, realized it had to be cleaned up. So that is what I did. Took a long time, but was well worth it, ending up with a nicely ordered workspace. As a result, the work coming next will be much easier to do. Come to think of it, yesterday was one in which even more got done. Before I went into the office, did a ton of yard work at home: trimmed edges and cut the lawn, weeded all the mulch beds, swept the driveway and tilled the garden. Went to bed with the sense that everything was in order.

Prophecy tells us that God will do the same; that being, reinstate order. The verse up top was written thousands of years ago, its prediction yet to be fulfilled.

What a mess we have right now on planet earth, one we are told cannot ultimately be fixed by ourselves. Not to worry if God’s word is indeed the self-validating truth it claims to be. I used to sit in church as a kid, can still recall many of the prayerful phrases I heard each week. One, coming from the Apostle’s Creed if my memory serves accurately, contained the following: “…as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.”

Things appear, in accordance with said prophecy, that eventual coming may be imminent.
