Do you know what this meant?
Drink for the fountain of life
Do you know what this meant to the Israelites in Jesus’ day?
“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.” John 7:37 New International Version
Do you know what this meant to the Israelites in Jesus’ day?
It reminded them of the forty years they spent wandering through the desert. As you can imagine, there was not plenty of water in the desert. When they would find an oasis they would stampede into it and with great joy engorge themselves in the life giving sweet liquid.
Think of a time when you were really thirsty? When you took a drink of cool refreshing water, didn’t envelope your whole body with a pleasant sensation?
Well now, think of what Jesus was saying. When we give our heart, mind and body to Him, He will bless us with His all encompassing love. The Holy Spirit will refresh our spirit, mind and body just as the sweet cool liquid refreshes your body on a hot day and your throat is parched dry.
As we continue along our journey with Christ the Holy Spirit will change our hearts and minds. We will become in closer union with Christ. As we do, we will dedicate our hearts, mind and spirit to Him. This will draw us in even closer to Him. Of course ultimately this will draw us into Heaven where with the purest joy He will give us to drink daily, minute by minute of Christ’s divine, pure and beautiful love. Oh such sweet and precious will that water be.
The soul hardly ever realizes it, but whether he is a believer or not, his loneliness is really a homesickness for God. Hubert van Zeller
Do you drink freely from the never ending supply of Christ’s sweet pure spring of life?Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38 New Internation Version
Prayer: I humbly request my beloved the privilege of drinking from Your sweet water that You so graciously offer for free. I ask in the name of the living water, Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
