Faith Moments Today April
The Wise Old Bird
I can hardly believe that spring is already here. It's a great time to get outdoors and start planting this year's gardens. With all the new activity of the season it is easy to get off course in our Bibilical studies, and when that happens wisdom goes out the window and hello stress. What happened to that wise old bird?
"Springing" forth in our lessons this month we want to remain focused on our daily need for God's wisdom for each decision we make, no matter how small it is. Our study in Faith Moments Today® Devotional will lead us into recognizing our need for the Holy Spirit's guidance in all matters of life.
Christian recording artist Don Moen and his worship team begin several of the lessons leading us into the right frame of mind as we study the Word of God. Our focus this month:
Week 1: Pray, God hears you.
Week 2: Meekness is not weakness.
Week 3: Being A Godly Example
Week 4: Wisdom in Knowing God's Word.
Bookmark this site so that you will come back each week and follow along with the lessons to help you grow in your faith.

Title of Lesson:
Wisdom - Get Some
Poll: Wisdom
Where does wisdom come from?
Verse of the Month
“Get wisdom, get understanding:
forget it not; neither decline from the
words of My mouth.” (Proverbs 4:5)
Cast Your Burdens - This is a song we sing in our church. It is a reminder of what Jesus wants to do for us.
As we begin this month's Bible study let us worship together in song and spirit, giving praise to a Savior who is alive.

Pray & Cry Aloud - God Hears
Scripture Reading: Psalm 55:16-18 & 22-23
There are times in life that I feel tired, afraid, alone and lonely. During those times I'm in a vulnerable position. My mind begins to run away with thoughts, allowing satan to whisper lies to me. Trouble seems to come from every direction with no relief; but wait, someone is listening.
We are given direction on what to do in Psalm 55. Our job is to call and pray outloud..
"I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me " I will pray and cry aloud to God and He shall hear my voice." (from Psalm 55:16 & 18).
Our Heavenly Father is waiting to hear from us. Let's take the instruction given in Psalm 55:22.
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
God will take those burdens, carry them, get rid of them, and sustain (feed, support, provide for) you. Don't carry that stuff around for another minute. Give it over to God! He SHALL hear your voice!

We are not Weak when Meek - Our example is Jesus, our all powerful and meek Savior.
Meekness and majesty (with lyrics) song by Graham Kendrick
Meekness Is Not Weakness
Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:16-26
My nephew Michael was born on April 14th, and from the very beginning, "Mikey" endeared himself to everyone with his meek and quiet spirit. Thirty plus years later Michael is over six-feet tall and 200 pounds. The inner man still possesses those attributes. These are the qualities God is looking for in each of us. First Peter 3:4 says,
"Let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."
The world sees meekness and quietness of spirit as weaknesses, but God puts great value on these things.
Our scripture reading for today speaks of the fruit of the Spirit. To be true men and women of God we need to operate in this fruit (the abundant harvest of good things from God). Purpose in your heart to please God. Let your testimony be that of a meek and quiet spirit for you are valued by God.

Being A Godly Example
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 1
"Train up a child in the way he should go." (Proverbs 22:6)
With television and other forms of mass media today, our children see all types of behaviors displayed openly. We may think that once the TV or radio is off that all things are safe on the home front. Not so. One of the greatest influences on our children may be going unchecked. Do you know what that is? US! That's right, you and I.
Children watch and imitate adults. What type of example are we by the words we speak and act or react around our kids? Are the words "I love you" part of daily conversation in your household? Is the Word of God your greatest help in raising your children? Jesus said in John 13:15:
"For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you."
Jesus showed us and spoke to us by example, how we are to conduct ourselves. Leave that same legacy to your children as you lead them by Christ's example.

Lord Give Us Wisdom - The Bible tells us we can ask for wisdom in James chapter 1. So let's do that today.
GOSPEL HYMNAL - WISDOM G.avi (Twila Paris)
In the Beginning Was the Word
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 4:5 & II Timothy 3
Have you ever gotten your car stuck on the ice and snow? Frustrating right? No matter what you do, your wheels just spin with no traction. Leaving the transmission in normal "drive" and to keep accelerating will actually shift the gears even though you aren't going anywhere! The same thing can happen to Christians that don't read and study God's Word. They can motor right along with the rest of "life's" traffic, but when they come to a slippery spot, their spiritual wheels spin. They don't have enough WORD in them to give them the Godly traction they need to get out of that situation.
Second Timothy 2:15 gives reasons why we need to study the Bible. In easy to understand terms I put it like this: "To be approved unto God, not to be ashamed, and so we will learn to understand truth from lies." God's Word is the wisdom we need for the road of life; not only will we be able to get through the slippery spots, but we will be able to help others gain "traction" along the way.
