Faulkner Tarot - Modern Photographic Deck

Updated on February 17, 2014

Tarot Cards for the Modern Reader

I recently purchased a new deck of Tarot cards. I work as a professional reader. I wished to share with you all this wonderful deck and the inspiring story of the designer, Rhiannon Faulkner. This will be a brief history of the story behind the deck and a little about my experience in using the deck for my work. I hope you enjoy this and will explore the various links.

My Experience of Faulkner Tarot

I first discovered this beautiful deck while exploring various business sites on Facebook. I felt drawn to the stunning black and white photographs which had been displayed on the fan page. Although I recognised the traditional names of the Tarot Cards, these images were a modern interpretation.

Intrigued, I visited the home site of the Author, Rhiannon Faulkner, where I discovered the moving story behind these cards. Rhiannon was inspired to produce these photographic images by messages from her spirit guides. A photographer friend helped her to recreate the images she had seen in her imagination.

The main models were her husband and children. Six months after the deck was completed, and before publication, Rhiannon's husband was diagnosed with cancer and died the following year.

I was surprised at how quickly the cards arrived at my house when I had placed my order. Within 2 days I had the cards and a personally signed copy of the accompanying book.

So far, I have done a few readings for family and friends using these new cards and have recently been offering them as one of the choices on my website for a reading. The feedback I have received so far has been excellent. Most people I have worked with can relate to the emotions and actions depicted in the cards, which makes the general 'sense' of the reading easier to convey.

As with any divination method, the success of the cards depends on how attuned the reader is to their tools and how intuitive they are. However, these cards make the meanings of the cards easy to understand, even for novice readers. I have found that they are an excellent teaching method for younger tarot students, who find the modern images easier to remember than the traditional designs.

About Rhiannon Faulkner

Rhiannon Faulkner found herself a young widow with 5 children when she lost her husband Dave to prostate cancer.

She is a successful author, medium and faith healer, based in Devon, UK, but known for her work worldwide.

Rhiannon shared her experiences in her two autobiographies, My Journey Through The Tarot and My Test of Faith. She aims to try and help people to understand that God is not against us when things in life go wrong, but behind us every step of the way.

Rhiannon hopes to change the way tarot is perceived. She wants it to be understood as a form of counselling and self-help, rather than something dark.

10% of all profits of the sale of the Faulkner Tarot Deck go to cancer charities in memory of her husband Dave.

Since losing her husband, Rhiannon has written books to help children and adults cope with grief.

Her books and decks have now sold worldwide, with people being inspired by her personal situation and honesty about grief. Rhiannon wants the days of hiding away from grief to be replaced by being able to openly talk about death and the harsh reality of being left behind.
