KAALA SARPA YOGAM/DOSHAM
Kaala sarpa dosham
Kaala means the certain period. Sarpa means the snake. You may understand Kaala sarpa yogam as certain period of your life is under the influence of the snake. The snake here means the Rahu & Kethu. Yogam means blessing or good fortune because at the end of the Kaala sarpa yogam period it is going to take you to higher level in your life. You will become rich or famous etc. This normally happens in the middle age or latter part of the middle age. Dosham means the curse. You are going to suffer from obstacles in your life path, no mental peace, problems in married life, enemies in your working place, no appreciation for your hard work, incurable disease etc .
Rahu & Kethu
The Rahu & Kethu are actually not planets. They are known as shadow planets. Actually they are the north & south lunar nodes .The asending node is Rahu & Desending node is Kethu.
How to find out whether you have Kaala sarpa yogam
In your horoscope if all the planets are situated between Rahu & Kethu then it forms the Kaala sarpa yogam. There are various types of Kaala sarpa dosham. There is asending Kaala sarpa yogam & desending Kaala sarpa yogam. When you count the houses in horoscope if Rahu comes first & Kethu at last it is known as the ascending type.The descending type is vice versa.
Is there a connection between Kaala sarpa dosham & snakes?
The connection is only in your dreams or nightmares. Let me explain this later.
Some people say if you had harmed snakes especially Cobras in this life or in your previous life or some of your forefathers harmed them then you will be affected from Kaala sarpa dosham. I personally don’t know how much reincarnation is true. I don’t believe in this saying. The reason is in China & the counties adjacent to China people consume snakes as their food. They even make Cobra whiskey. In this case all of them should be affected by Kaala sarpa yogam. But not all of them are affected by this Kaala sarpa yogam.

Dreams or Nightmares
Everybody once in a way experience night mares. But when you are affected by Kaala sarpa dosham you experience these nightmares more. You may experience nightmares like falling down from great heights. Then you really feel like falling & you are trying to grab something in your dream. Then you feel like fallen and now you feel like nothing happened. When you feel nothing happened at this that time you are slightly awake. Then you wake up sweating & you think what a nasty nightmare.
You may dream about snakes. Most of the time you will see python type dead snakes. In your dreams you will be amazed to see such great snakes. You will see cobras in your dreams. In most of the cases they are trying to bite you & you are trying to escape etc.
Some say you will encounter snakes in your real life. If you live in south east Asia snakes & cobras are very common in these places. Because of this reason I don’t know how much it is true. The presence of a Cobra to your house is believed as a bad omen & it might create problems in your family life.
Remedy
The Hindus perform special rituals on the special day (the day with the affected person’s birth star & normally it comes once in a month) in some special temples.For example the Nainativu Nagapooshani Amman temple in Sri-Lanka. You can find a lot of remedies in the internet. Actually they are not so expensive remedies. If you suffer by Kaala sarpa yogam you can try these remedies but I don’t know how much it will work.
