The Scientific and Historical Prophecies in the Quran.

Quran contains many prophecies which some has been fulfilled in the Prophet’s lifetime ,while others are yet to appear.But in this hub,I will focus on fifth fulfilled prophecies.The first two ones will be scientific and others historical.

First of all ,what is a prophecy? why do we need it?

I.Definition:

prophecy is foretold news about events in future that have come true.

II.The basic purpose of prophecy:

It proves the truthfulness of a prophet and the authenticy of his book.It helps also a believer to stay steadfast on the road to God .

III.The scientific prophecies in Quran:

Allah Almighty Says:"We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? " (The Noble Quran, 41:53)

No one can ever imagine that an illiterated man who lived in desert 1400 years ago can predict such stunning scientific events,as mentioned hereunder,to occur.It is very beyond our mental and emotional capacity to tell for sure or visualize such amazing events.There are some people who can predict some events in the future,but if we scrutinize them closely and deeply,we will find them no more than educated or lucky guesses.

Recently,I was talking to a Christian about the Quranic prophecies.He got infuriated,which I didn't understand,and launched a massive attack on Quran and Mohamed(Peace Be Upon Him).He said that "the Quran is a book written by a man whose only desires were power, wealth and very young girls".I answered him,saying that he did a big mistake academically,because that man is illiterate and he never sought sexual pleasure.Marrying young girl was acceptable in preIslam period.If it was something bad,the enemies of Mohamed(Peace Be Upon Him) would be the first ones to use it against him .Scientifically speaking,girls in Arabia started puberty as early as 9 years old ,because menstruation in hot climates started earlier than in cold ones.Historically speaking, Puberty in European communities during Medieval ages started from 13 and Joseph, Mary’s husband,was 90 years old when he married 12 to 14-year old Mary.I don t understand why my Christian friend accused Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him) of pedophilia.If he is that sensitive and chivalrous,he should point his finger to the Bible first for containing some horrible incidents like Solomon and his men raped and killed a girl of three years old -"Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?"(Bible,English Standard Version,Mathew:7:4)-This is just a drop from the ocean.There are some others which certainly will shock any reader of the Bible, but here,I can t expose them, because,as I stated above,my Hub will be focusing on some fulfilled Quranic prophecies.Maybe in near future I will write something about that.Why I state here my talk with my Christian friend is because most of Christians nowadays are just repeating prefabricated conventional platitudes or rather,to soften the tone, victims of the West media.One should read something about any subject free from any pre-judgement or any emotional tribal belonging.

1.Genetic engineering:

Satan says in the Quran:"I will surely take from among Your servants a specific portion.And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them [sinful] desires, and I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah ." And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah has certainly sustained a clear loss." (4:120)

The holy Quran has prophesied that people will use cosmetic surgery ,genetic engineering and cloning of humans or animals.The two first photos below are of women who were once men and the third one is about man who hated being a woman,so become a man again. .

2.A barrier Between Two Different Bodies of Water:

"He released the two seas, meeting [side by side];Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses" (55:20,21)

"And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition"(The Noble Quran,25:53)

Here,Quran speaks about a barrier that exists between sweet and salty water that prevents them from mingling with one another.That barrier is like a thin wall which is caused by the difference in the density of their waters.

IV.The historical Quranic prophecies:

1.The preservation of Pharaoh's body:

“And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims.Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters?.So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless”(The noble Quran 10:90-93).

Here,the Quran prophesises that the body of the Pharaoh will be preserved as a sign for future generations.In 1981,archaeologists discovered the mummy of ramsses II,(the Pharaoh of the Exodus).Thus,the amazing prophecy had been fulfilled.The Mummy now is on display in the Royal Mummies Room of the Egyptian Museum, Cairo.

2. Lahab will perish in hell fire:

“May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame”(The Noble Quran, 111:1- 3)

Abu Lahab was the Prophet's uncle and his bitter enemy.In this verse it explicitly states that Abu Lahab, would be condemned to Hell.During his life.he couldn t even lie and say he had converted to Islam.He died as a disbeliever.If he made a declaration,he would disprove Quran and people would stop following mohamed s teachings.

3. Iram City:

" Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad.[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,The likes of whom had never been created in the land?" (The Noble Quran:6-8).

Iram was a city of lofty pillars.It was believed to have been built by King called Shaddad ibn Ad to create a substitute of God's paradise on earth,so no need for people to fear the God s hellfire or to follow the teachings of His Messengers.

The king gathered gold, silver, pearls and other precious things to make it look beautiful and heavenlike.But God stood in the opposite ,because He doesn't like those who challenge His power and creativity.People of Sodom challenged ,the messenger of God,Lot to bring the wrath of God upon them and God ,the All-Hearing, the Responder ,didn't hesitate to destroy them and turn their city upside down.

However,The same fate overtook Iram.According to Quran,God sent a great wind to destroy the city and bury it beneath the sands of the desert because of the evil deeds of its inhabitants.

Until recently there was no record of this city and Archeologies were about to believe that "Eudaimon Arabia",which was first mentioned in a book called Arabia Felix by an English researcher,Bertram Thomas in 1932, was a legendary city.But in 1973,archaeologists discovered an ancient city called Elba in the North West of Syria which proved the existence of the mythical lost city;they found among other things a record on clay tablets which listed the cities with whom the Elbans used to do business. Iram was one of them.

In 1990, archaeologist,,Nicholas Clapp after a long research had succeeded to discover the lost city of Arabia whichwas buried by the sand dunes of Al-Ahqaf (South Arabian desert of Rub al-Khali)

3.Victory of Byzantine Christians over Persians:

Between 614 and 617 ,Byzantine Empire lost large parts of its territory in several battles with Persians.They lost Jerusalem, Egypt and Syria.Muslims ,in that time, felt sad because spiritually they are closer to Christian Rome than Zoroastrian Persia ,whereas pagan Arabs felt happy because Persians were idol worshippers too.

“The Byzantines have been defeated.In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome.Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice.In the victory of Allah . He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful” (Quran 30:2-4).

Here,God made a prophecy of two victories as it is shown in the above verses so as to comfort and cheer up the morale of the faithful believers:

1.The future Christian Roman victory within ten years over the Zoroastrian Persians.

2,There would be there a great rejoicing among the Muslims and Christians at the news of the victory.

In 622,Heraclius ,The Roman emperor,started series of victories over the Persians,first in the Battle of Issus and then in a field near Nineveh.He himself killed three Persian generals in the latter and his army scattered the Persian host.

to sum up,on the light of the few Quranic prophecies that I stated above,Quran is without any doubt a revelation of God and Mohamed (Peace Be upon Him)His last Messenger.The more science develops,the more discoveries and scientific confirmation of the facts,which are already mentioned in Quran will crop up.
