The Church and the Corrupt Practices

Updated on April 4, 2014

Why Is The Church Drifting

The church 'The Bride of Jesus', made holy and sanctified by Him, waiteth for the day when the Bridegroom will come to receive her- the day of rapture (!st Thess 4:16,17.)

The Church Fore ordained:

In the beginning God created Adam and Eve to fellowship with Him. He blessed them and said unto them "Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth Gen.2:28. However sin disrupted the blessed fellowship between God and man. As a result God the son took the form of man called Jesus (Saviour from sins Matt 1:21) to take the penalty of death, so that by simple trust in Jesus Christ, every can receive forgiveness of sins, and enter into eternal life in heaven after death (John 3:16)

The Church Established:

Jesus promised, "I will build my church " Matt16:18. Before Christ ascend into heaven, His commission to His disciples was to go into all the nations teaching and baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost (Matt 28: 19,20). The apostles obeying the commission established churches beginning from Jerusalem extending up to Europe and W. Asia, facing severe persecution up to the 3rd century A.D.

The church Drifts:

The first century A.D church faced severe persecution. False doctrines and heresies on the other hand crept into the churches. The Corinthian church adopted corrupt practices to which apostle admonished them. (The need of cleansing the church-: I Cor.1:10-31); the duty of cleansing the church -: 1 Cor. 5:1-13; 6:9-20; 10:16-212; and the proper order in public assemblies-1st Cor 14:19,22,33). Apostle John's admonition to the seven churches in Asia -the outgrowth of Paul's missionary work (Rev chapter 2,3) is another evidence of apostasy of the church. His admonition against heresy and false teachers prevalent in the first century A.D. is recorded in 2 John 7-11.

Down through the ages from the garden of Eden, Satan has been distorting God's word and eventually the church has been giving birth to churches-drifting away from the truth.

During the medieval ages the church was misled by the popes, who lured by the wealth hid God's redemption story from the church-the Bible being then available only in the Greek language. They were involved in indulgences thus extracting exorbitant sums of money from the rich, for a dead man's soul to enter heaven. Martin Luther the great reformer protested against these evils, and gradually some of them have vanished away today.

The Church must be adored:

Is the church today free from corrupt practices, from idolatry (Deut11:16, 17;29:16-27;32:16,17,20;Ezek 36 !st Cor8:4) and lukewarmness( Rev 3:15,16)? Are we a living epistle (2Cor 3:2) to the lost or are we a laughing stock? Can our spectators around us see the strong bonds of love that binds us all over the world as the body of Christ and His Bride?Should we not remain unblemished, holy, rooted and grounded in the word of God, whereby men may read our lives and know the only true God Jesus whom we worship(1 John 5:20).

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge and the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14).

The Church must be adored.
