Christian Music Ministry
Me
(UniSon) Is The Name Of My (Music Ministry)
In case you're wondering what that title is about (UniSon) was the name of a music ministry that I was a part of for many years.
When I was growing up, I always envisioned myself being in a band. I even thought to myself even if it is just the tambourine, I would be perfectly fine with that. You know we all have had visions of doing something special in our lives. At least for some of us it would be, but I never imagined it would be in praise for the Lord.
When I came into a personal relationship with the Lord my own immediate family including siblings and their children got involved in the ministry, also including my parents. One of these ministries in particular was in music.
It all started with my father and sister getting together and playing their guitars in worship and praise. My dad also played the harmonica and he was good at it.Then my other sister got involved and started lead singing. She was gifted with a great voice.
From this point on we slowly and organically grew our ministry together, which all began in a modest prayer meeting. Then I personally became involved, which was by singing and playing the tambourine. I also played the chimes but the tambourine was what came naturally to me. :)
My family had me go to practice before I could continue on because I must of been way out of tune. I wasn't naturally gifted with a good voice, and I needed a lot of practice. But playing the tambourine had come natural to me. I picked it up and played it as though it were nothing new and I had been playing for years.
I know you might be thinking (big deal anyone can play a tambourine), this is NOT SO! I remember when this nice looking young man came into one of our prayer meetings. This was shortly before I even came into the music ministry. He played like no one I had ever heard play before. It was majestically beautiful, it danced in harmony, and the sound was simply amazing. I was in complete awe.
Now I do not want to sound as though I am boasting, and I give the Lord (always) the glory. Yet many people would come up to me asking if I would teach them how to play the tambourine. And now I was the one told that I play like nobody they have ever heard play before. It was difficult for me to teach anyone this because I do believe that the Lord gave me a natural ability to play like no one else I had heard or seen. He used a child's dream to play in a unique way, and ultimately Glorifying Him. He often uses our dreams so that we can please Him, and honor Him. After all He puts those dreams in us to begin with.
Isaiah 42:10 Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them. Praise His holy name.
How did UniSon - Come About
UniSon Music Ministry
My dad and two sisters formed a music ministry, we came up with the name UniSon, and we were all in agreement on that choice in comparison to any other name for our ministry.
My mother had her input as well. We felt that the name UniSon would fit perfectly because we were in unity with this ministry and we were servants of the "Lord Most High, unified through His Son".
As our ministry began to grow, we added a lovely couple from our home church. They were both a blessing to us. The husband brought his talents in playing the drums and his wives talent was her beautiful serene and soft voice. By this additional couple added we had now finalized our group, and harmonized beautifully together. On special rare occasions another sister would be a guest singer, her voice was powerful!
People don't realize how much hard work and dedication comes with a ministry such as this. It is practicing week after week, and then showing up to each church or venue to play. In addition, we would also go outside of our home church, traveling to other cities and towns in Colorado as well.
During this time I was a mother of two small children and a teenager, and believe me they were quite a handful. But I must say although there were times that I didn't feel like showing up for practice and such, the benefits outweigh those. When you're out there in the ministry singing, you are in the Lord's presence. He dwells in the praises of His people. It is 'Heaven like' being in His presence, almost surreal. A feeling that no one can really explain, as it must be personally experienced. It is the ultimate feeling being able to be in service unto our Lord. With worship and praise it is like praying two times, the most powerful prayer. Most importantly it pleases Him.
Today my father and my brother in the Lord who was the drummer are no longer with us here on earth. They are with their heavenly Father above, and greatly missed. UniSon is no longer, now a memory from decades past. But as always, it was meant to be during the time it existed, and "UniSon WAS" All glory and honor unto the Lord. For He is worthy of all our praise.

"It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the ... instruments of music, ... that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God." II Chronicles 5:13, 14

God Of This City - by Chris Tomlin
This song really blesses me, it stirs in me a greater hope and faith for our world. In this day and age where there seems to be so much sadness and hopelessness.
This song ministers to me deeply within my heart ❤️, reminding me of how great Our God is, there is no one like Him It gives me hope to see that although the pain that surrounds this world there is hope in a God who is aware of our pain. If we would look up and start praising Him, thanking Him, and being truly grateful for life itself we would then see those other greater things that still needs to be done in our city, state, country, and world. I do believe!
Psalm 100 1-2
1. For giving thanks.
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2. Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
