Astrology Sun Signs - Meet Virgo - August 24th - September 23rd
Recognizing Virgo
Once, when I was trying to get my car repaired, I met a charming fellow who positively delighted in assisting me. I must have had a lost look on my face, for he stepped right in and proceeded to regale me with information, practical solutions to my problem, took me under his wing, answered all my questions and started the ball rolling with the resident mechanic - all with a smile and such quiet efficiency, he had to be a Virgo. When I caught him sneaking a peek at his reflection in the window, and straightening his posture, I knew I was right!
Office parties and social gatherings are not the best places to go looking for Virgo - not that they aren't social, it's just they aren't particularly comfortable in crowds. Some Virgos I know will either fain ill health, or actually make themselves sick just to get out of a social obligation! You seldom see Virgo tripping the light fantastic or spending a day picking seashells at the beach - they are too busy to stop and smell the flowers.
The September born always gives the impression that they are secretly worried about something. You wouldn't be far off the mark to notice that, this sign makes it a habit to worry. It is rarely something you can put your finger on, but if you look closely, you can see it hiding beneath the surface of their smile.
These people can endure more intense work than many other signs, if they don't have a nervous breakdown in the process. Outwardly, Virgo gives the impression of being cool and capable, but inside, anxiety can eat away at their calm, upsetting their digestion and even resulting in ulcers. This sign does have a tendency to take on more than they can handle and the stress of the obligation can push them to the breaking point.
Physical attributes
Generally speaking, Virgo has a rather lanky, wiry build, although other influences can round them out just a tad. Virgo has unusually clear, quiet eyes - so clear you can almost see your reflection - and they sparkle with intelligence. The tranquil facial expression belies their secret worries, and their features are usually on the delicate side.
Virgo is graceful and can be quite charming, with an odd bit of vanity that peeks in once in a while - generally when others tend to be looking the other way. They are very critical of their appearance, being rather meticulous, conservative dressers, and will be hard pressed to pass a mirror and not sneak a quick glance to be sure everything is in it's proper place.
The virgin's temperament
Sincerity and dependability could be Virgo's middle name. Viginians (almost sounds western don't you think?) are the first ones to help the hostess of a dinner party clean up afterwards, and they pitch in willingly with no ulterior motives. It isn't a 'need' to take over that spurs the Virgo to help out when things are in a turmoil, it's just that they hate procrastination, neglected details and confusion.
The Virgo has a very orderly, neat mind. Their homes, on the other hand might not reflect this, what with stacks of newspapers, or magazines piled in corners around their favorite chair, but that is only because they are busy organizing other areas - watering the plants, cleaning the kitchen, because you can't cook in a dirty kitchen, after all, dirt breeds germs, and germs cause diseases, and, and...
While we are on the subject of germs, if any Sun sign knows about health and nutrition, it's a Virgo! Some of the best nurses are September born. If you have a headache, you can bet your Virgo friend will have the remedy close at hand - just take a peek in their medicine cabinet! You will probably find remedies for upset stomach relief, acid indigestion, headaches, antibacterial creams, muscle relaxants - well you get the picture. And you can bet he knows all the ingredients and how they work, so he will be an expert at finding the right product for your needs.
He will probably have more than one bottle on hand as well. When a Virgo finds a product that he likes, whether it be medication, soap, shampoo or canned goods, he will buy it by the caselot - after all, it's cheaper that way. Virgo is anything but a spendthrift - waste not, want not!
Virginal bliss...
Don't let the title fool you - Virgo does not equal virginal! They do have a purity of mind and soul, and shy away from vulgarity in any form. They are not strangers to physical affection, but just because they don't pursue it like other Sun signs, does not mean they are prudes. Virgos are practical, material people and have little use for harlequin or happy-ever-after romances. The Virginian looks for a mate who is well turned out, but not flashy, and is clean in body and mind.
They tend to have a sharp tongue, and can be viewed as being critical, but this is due to their ability to spot the little details that elude many other signs. They have the uncanny knack at seeing the flaws that others overlook, like the fact that you have arranged your funiture to cover the burn mark on the floor, or turned 'grandma's favorite vase' to hide the crack in the base, and are sometimes quick to mention them.
These are also the people who have such calm, serene features, yet when you are having a conversation with them, they are constantly adjusting their belts, shifting their feet, or smoothing their shirts as if checking to see if any buttons have come undone.
Most Virgos dislike tardiness in any form (which is why you rarely see Gemini and Virgo co-habiting...) I know of one Virgo who leaves the house an hour before an appointment, just in case there is an accident along the way, or the possibility of getting a flat tire makes him late - after all, it's prudent to plan ahead. This is one sign that does not fly by the seat of his pants - besides, flying is too expensive.
