where is my weapon
Where is my weapon?
With panic in my voice I am running around the house like a mad woman yelling out in despair “Where are my keys, I always place them right here so I will know where they are.” I can’t yell at the kids because they are all grown and on their own. I can’t yell at Tony because he is gone to work already and has his own set of keys to his own vehicle. Then when I settled down and take a deep breath low and behold there they are…in that place where I keep them all along, my purse. They were buried why down in my purse in one of the many compartments that my purse has. I also remember placing an extra-key to my new home out side for when I would get locked out. I kept getting locked out side, so one day I got locked out and everyone was gone to school and work. There I stood with the door locked and remembering I had placed a house key out side. I was saved. I am sure we all have those certain spots that you place your things for a quick grab. Keys on the night stand, wallet on night stand, pill box in the kitchen on top of the coffee maker. Then we have those places were we might stash our extra spending money so no one can see, ladies, how about those chocolates we want for our selves? The point is, rather we hide the item or have a certain spot we always remember that spot.
Lately God has been speaking to me about memorizing his word. Placing it deep down in my heart. Psalm 119:11 says 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Why is it important to memorize scripture? I have found my self at times praying or speaking to someone that needs to hear a certain scripture, so I say something like this, “There is a scripture in the bible that says something like this…etc, etc” They don’t need what I think it says…if they are in bondage they need to hear what exactly it says. I believe the word is our weapon that Satan or his demons can not argue with.It might have taken me a few years to really believe the part in the bible where it says in Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. We would not even think of going into a battle without our guns, shields, tanks, so why would we go into battle everyday with out our weapon. What we need is the word of God. You can’t carry it around all day? That’s okay, memorize it.
When we speak the word of God things happen. Bondages are broken, people are set free, and healing begins. God has given us the weapons that we need to fight with in this world but we just don’t take the time and read the instructions on how to use them. Memorize? You might say “I have a hard time memorizing things,” That’s okay; all you have to do is ask God to help you to apply the word of God to your heart. HE WILL DO It!!! You don’t buy your child a toy and give it to them and let them figure it all out for him self…no u sit down and HELP him apply it to his mind so he can learn how to use the toy.
Folks I now know with out any doubt how you can stop Satan at his tricks by memorizing the word of God so you will have it to recall when you are in need of it. Realize how alive the Bible is and use it. Jesus shows us in Matt 4 how Satan can not argue the scriptures. When Jesus was being tempted on the mount he was not using lines as these, “Nope don’t want to Satan”, Nah I better not” No, his words he used were “For the Scriptures say,” Then at the end what does it say Satan did? 11 Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.
We need to memorize the scriptures folks, get gear up for battle, if by chance one day you have forgotten your bible at home, in the car…you can find it in that spot where you placed the scripture for a quick grab.
