2012 Conference Realignment
In 2011 we saw Nebraska leave the Big 12 to become a member of the Big Ten and make it a twelve team conference. The Big 12 also lost Colorado as they went to the Pac 12 along with Utah as well who left the Mountain West. Boise State left the WAC for the Mountain West last season as BYU left the Mountain West to become a independent. Those were the moves of the 2011 college football season and we will be having more to come starting with the 2012 season and beyond and here are the 2012 conference relignments for 2012 season and beyond.
ACC - ATLANTIC DIVISION - Clemson, Wake Forest, Florida State, N.C. State, Boston College and Maryland COASTAL DIVISION - Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Miami(FL), North Carolina and Duke
ACC will welcome Pittsburgh (Big East) and Syracuse (Big East) in 2013.
BIG EAST - Cincinnati, Louisville, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, South Florida and Syracuse
The Big East loses West Virginai in 2012 and will lose Pittsburgh and Syracuse in 2014. Big East will add Boise State, San Diego State, Central Florida, Houston and SMU in 2013.
BIG 12 - Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Baylor, Texas, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Kansas, TCU and West Virgina
Big 12 loses Texas A&M and Missouri to SEC.
CUSA - EAST - Southern Miss, Marshall, East Carolina, UAB, Central Florida and Memphis WEST - Houston, Tulsa, SMU, Rice, UTEP and Tulane
CUSA will lose Central Florida, Houston and SMU to Big East in 2013.
MAC - EAST - Ohio, Temple, Kent State, Massachusetts, Miami(OH), Buffalo and Akron WEST - Northern Illinois, Toledo, Western Michigan, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Bowling Green
MOUNTAIN WEST - Boise State, Wyoming, San Diego State, Air Force, Colorado State, UNLV, New Mexico, Nevada, Fresno State and Hawaii
Mountain West loss TCU to Big 12 in 2012. But add Nevada, Fresno State and Hawaii from WAC. Mountain West will lose Boise State and San Diego State to Big East in 2013.
SEC - EAST - Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Missouri WEST - Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss. State, LSU and Texas A&M
SEC added Texas A&M and Missouri from the Big 12.
SUN BELT - Arkansas State, Western Kentucky, Louisiana, Florida International, North Texas, Louisiana-Monroe, Troy, Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic and South Alabama
Sun Belt added South Alabama, they will play a full conference schedule for 2012 but will not be eligible to win a conference title until 2013.
WAC - Louisiana Tech, Utah State, San Jose State, New Mexico State, Idaho, Texas-San Antonio and Texas State
WAC loses Hawaii, Fresno State and Nevada to Mountain West. But added Texas-San Antonio and Texas State, they will play a full conference schedule but will not be eligible for a bowl until 2013.
Pac 12, Big Ten and Independents all remain the same as they were in the 2011 college football season.
