Protein Shakes Are Great For Workouts
Whether its before your workout or after your workout, a protein shake is a a lean way to get more protein in your diet to feed your muscles and hydrate your body at the same time. It can be especially refreshing on hot summer days when your going to the gym to workout. So here are some high protein shake recipes that are super refreshing and nourishing, and perfect for a hot summer day. But don't forget, if you like to make your smoothies a little different - its really easy to improvise with a protein shake. If you don't like dairy, you can use almond milk, coconut milk or soy milk. If you like chocolate, you can add your own cocoa powder for additional flavor. Make your protein shake to your liking, and make sure it has lots of protein.
Bodybuilding Smoothie Recipe #1
For this smoothie, you will get an excellent dose of potassium to prevent cramps when working out in the gym and it's a really lean shake too. This smoothie is also packed with antioxidants. For this smoothie recipe, you can use 2% milk
- Add 1 scoop of 100% Whey Gold Standard "chocolate flavor" (see link below for nutrition info) you can get this supplement for a low price when you buy it online. Its very high in protein, and very low in calories, plus it tastes great
- 1 banana
- Medley or combination of blueberries and blackberries
- 2% Milk
Add all of these ingredients to your blender. This is a perfect smoothie for the summer if you add extra shaved ice. This smoothie should have around 35 grams of protein, the protein powder alone provides 22 grams of protein.
Bodybuilding Smoothie Recipe #2
This smoothie helps with digestion, has tons of antioxidants and tons of protein. Its also one of my favorite smoothies. I will also use 2% milk for this protein smoothie recipe, but remember you can always use coconut milk.
- 1 Banana
- 1 scoop of 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard protein (chocolate)
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup of greek yogurt (extra protein and good for digestion)
- instant oats ground up (extra energy for the gym)
- Don't forget the milk
- Add Ice
Blend this shake together in a blender, it will have a very nice chocolate flavor with a hint of peanut butter. You can also improvise the flavor by choosing a certain flavor of greek yogurt like strawberry. Instant oats are a great way to get extra energy and the gym and it will help you feel more full for longer. You get an extra 6 grams of protein from the peanut butter, and you could also use almond butter for this protein shake. You could also add some berries if this doesn't have enough fruit for you.
Bodybuilding Smoothie Recipe #3
This protein shake is more on the fruity side, its high in vitamin C and potassium and its super tasty. For this recipe you will be using
- 1 cup milk
- 1 scoop of 100% Whey Protein Powder
- 1/2 orange
- 1/2 banana
- mixed berries w/ strawberries
- 1 teaspoon almond butter
- 1/2 cup Chobani greek yogurt strawberry flavor
Blend all of these ingredients together and you will have a very tasty summer protein shake that has a strong berry kick with a hint of orange. This protein shake is perfect for super hot days when the temperature is reaching 100 degrees. Remember that you can add more protein powder (2 scoops) to the protein shake if you want more protein. 2 scoops of that protein powder that I mentioned will give you over 40 grams of protein before you even add milk, but the protein powder also mixes easily with water. You can save money on the protein powder when you buy it online.
