4 Takeaways From Smackdown - 3/12/19
It rarely happens, but WWE has successfully followed up one good show with another this week. Following a progressive episode of Raw, Smackdown moved forward with some stories as well. While not quite on Raw's level in that aspect, Tuesday's show was productive indeed.
Let's look at Smackdown and go through some takeaways from the show.

4. Shane Will Face The Miz at Mania
After turning on The Miz at Fastlane, Shane McMahon came out to explain why he did it. McMahon said he was tired of being used to help others all the time, and beating The Miz down was satisfying. We also found out these two will lock horns on the grandest stage of them all.
The "Best Tag Team in the World" story worked surprisingly well for what it was. I was very entertained, despite not being much of a Shane McMahon fan, myself.
I'm pretty excited for this matchup. While it won't be an all-time classic between the ropes, the bout should be pretty memorable for sure.
3. What's Next For Asuka?
I believe WWE made a mistake following the Royal Rumble. I would have had Becky Lynch challenge Ronda Rousey in a one on one bout, while Charlotte stayed on Smackdown, giving us Charlotte/Asuka II.
At this point, the Smackdown Women's champion doesn't have a legitimate contender. The last two weeks saw her defeat both Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, so there would be no point in one of them getting a title match. Sure, there are people like Carmella or Naomi, but neither one has even sniffed the title picture in so long.
I'm thinking we either see a triple threat match between Asuka, Rose and Deville or a battle royal of some sort. Either way, it's obvious WWE hasn't paid enough attention to the Smackdown Women's championship.
2. Great Buildup For Styles vs Orton
On paper, AJ Styles vs Randy Orton doesn't necessarily feel like a huge match. Sure, they're big names but both men have become somewhat stale (although I'm still a huge Styles fan).
This current story between the two, however gives me the opposite feeling. Bringing in more realism with comments about the indy scene really make you consider whether or not Orton would have been successful in the smaller wrestling market.
I have no doubt that these two will put on a good match, and I'm looking forward to another memorable RKO as well.
If Asuka defends her title in a singles match at Wrestlemania, who will be her opponent?
1. New Day Goes Airs Their Grievances
The show closed with The New Day and Vince McMahon. Big E and Xavier Woods let loose their frustrations over what's been happening with Kofi Kingston recently. They mentioned how they always did what they were told and never complained about it.
McMahon called Kingston a B+ player and announced he can earn an opportunity if he can win a gauntlet match next week against Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, The Bar, and Rowan.
This is interesting, as you would think Kofi NEEDS to win that match, until you realize how much of a task it will be. I wouldn't be surprised to see a sketchy finish or something. With that said, we have our main event for next week, and I'm excited for it.
Those were my takeaways from Smackdown this week. Who do you think will challenge for Asuka's title? What do you think of the New Day storyline? Sound off in the comments below! Thank you for reading and have a spectacular day!
