5 Takeaways from Monday Night Raw - 8/6/18

Updated on August 7, 2018

This is my series, simply known as "5 Takeaways", where I will share my personal main talking points coming out of Raw and SmackdownLive.

These are all my opinion, so I may miss a nugget or two. If you have something to add to my list, or a list of your own, feel free to share in the comment section below!

We are a group of long-time wrestling fans living in the Tri-State area. We have results, news, and so much more!

The Kevin Owens Show

We saw the return of one of WWE's most entertaining segments, in The Kevin Owens Show. This time it was switched up so that it took place on the stage instead of in the ring, which should have been a deas giveaway that something was going to happen.

Owens' guest was Jinder Mahal, and they both suffered the same fate - a flipping off of the stage. Braun Strowman had lifted the stage, sending both men into the ground.

It was a pretty cool moment, but this pales in comparison to the monster's other stunts. Owens later got Braun disqualified, losing his match to Mahal, and continuing his losing streak.

Rollins Goes Solo; Loses his Handicap Match

It's obvious now that Rollins is going to need an ally to help even the odds in order to get the Intercontinental title back. Tasked with finding a partner for his match against Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins was approached by Tyler Breeze, who offered to help, and make "Crossfit Breezus" (which would have been awesome, in my opinion).

Roman Reigns interjected, and offered his assistance... until Stephanie McMahon got involved. She forced Kurt Angle to send Reigns home, in an attempt to protect Summerslam's "main event".

Rollins had to go it alone, and lost in a valiant effort to his two adversaries. Dean Ambrose is rumored to return after Summerslam, so that part of the story could very well happen soon.

Ruby Riott is Back!

In a rematch from last week, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan of the Riott Squad took on Sasha Banks and Bayley. In the middle of the match, a hooded figure assisted the Riott Squad to victory, and I assume you already know who it was... Jason Jordan! No wait... Ruby Riott!

Yes! We finally see the return of one of the best in-ring performers on women's roster. It'll be interesting to see who she gets matched up with week in and week out. It's also worth paying attention to see how Riott's return will play into this rivalry between Banks/Bayley and Logan/Morgan.

Ronda Rousey's Debut

In her first match on Raw, Ronda Rousey didn't exactly kill it with Alicia Fox. As a matter of fact, it was pretty disappointing from an in-ring standpoint. However, I won't hate on her too much, considering how she's still new to the business, and this is only her second singles match on television.

The current story between Rousey and Alexa Bliss is a pretty interesting one, especially with the Raw women's title on the line. The aggressiveness of Ronda mixed with the cowardly Alexa makes for a great contrast of characters, especially considering their size differences. I'm pretty excited for their Summerslam match.

What will happen with Paul Heyman at Summerslam?

Paul Heyman Puts on A Fantastic Performance

After the words and actions of Brock Lesnar last week, there was plenty of fallout to be expected. In an interview, Paul Heyman absolutely broke down when talking about last week's happenings. Usually loud and boastful, we were shown a completely different side of him we've never seen.

Heyman deserves an Oscar for his work here, as it actually made me care about the outcome of the big Universal title match. Will it be Heyman screwing Lesnar out of his title, or will this just be a big ruse by the champion and his manager? I can legitimately say that Paul Heyman is the most interesting part of Brock vs Roman at Summerslam.

Thanks for reading! Did I miss any good points? Is there something you agree or disagree with? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to check out my SmackdownLive Takeaways tomorrow!
