Best Moments of SummerSlam 2019

Updated on January 22, 2020

Avid fan of Wrestling writes about WWE, AEW, NJPW. I love to write stories, articles and poems.

The biggest event of the Summer, lived to its hype, we saw a lot of great moments, Kofi vs Randy Orton was a good match, we saw Bayley go toe – toe against Ember Moon and retained her title, Becky Lynch defeated Natalya in a submission match. The United States Championship was on the line in what was a classic match between Ricochet and AJ Styles. Styles took the ‘W’ and then beat the living hell out of Ricochet. We even saw Goldberg destroy Dolph Ziggler.

All of the above mentioned moments and matches were indeed great but not the best, so let’s get on with the Absolute best moments of SummerSlam 2019.

You think you Know Me?

At the SummerSlam kickoff show, Elias had a special performance for the WWE Universe in Toronto, and much to his and everyone’s surprise the music of the Rated R superstar, Hall of Famer Edge hit and he made his first appearance in WWE in years. The crowd went wild as Edge marched towards the ring.

Edge and Elias had a stare down as both were standing across each other on opposite ends of the ring. Everyone including myself was just expecting the Rated R superstar to cut a promo but to everyone’s surprise Edge hit a banging spear on Elias. It was awesome to see Edge hit a spear after several years. This was the best way to kickoff SummerSlam.

Stratusfaction

SummerSlam 2019 was the last night we saw Trish Stratus wrestle. She has always treated us with awesome matches and it was great to see her perform see that she still got it. Trish faced off against Charlotte and this was more like her passing the torch, one great to another. Trish hit a perfect Stratusfaction on Charlotte and it looked like she was going to get the win but that was not enough and Charlotte made Trish tap out to the figure-8 leg lock.

Kevin Owens still has a job

Shane McMahon has been great ever since he made an epic return on Raw a few years back. It was all going swell up until he won the World Cup at Saudi Arabia, from then on he has been annoying and taking much of the TV time not giving any opportunity for the WWE Superstars. Kevin Owens was fed up of this and confronted Shane and this led to a match between the two at SummerSlam in which if Owens lost he is fired from WWE. Shane with the help of Elias looked like was going to eliminate Owens but Owens overcame the odds and took out Elias and then hit a low blow on Shane followed it by a stunner and got the 1..2…3.

The Debut of ‘The Fiend’

One of the most anticipated debuts of all time was of the Fiend, I was very eager to see how his entrance be and what will be his move set and I think it is safe to say that this entrance was one of the coolest and creepiest at the same time. ‘The Fiend’ made his entrance carrying a lantern that was made of the head of the Bray Wyatt of the Wyatt Family days. It was so cool to watch. ‘The Fiend’ faced of against Finn Balor and no matter what Balor did he was no match for ‘The Fiend’. ‘The Fiend’ also came in without a new move-set from the Bray Wyatt of the past. He had a spine tingling neck breaker that could potentially end the career of the recipient. He absolutely destroyed Finn Balor and got the win with the mandible claw. This is a great character and 2020 is going to be fantastic for ‘The Fiend’.

The Beast Slayer Triumphs

Brock after winning the 2019 Men’s Money in the Bank match in controversial fashion, he cashed in at Extreme Rules to become Universal Champion once again pinning the current Universal Champion at that time Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins earned a rematch against the Beast at SummerSlam.

Rollins entered the match not at a hundred percent. He had his ribs all taped up. Brock Lesnar entered this match with the upper hand because of the above-mentioned reason, an injured Rollins. This was excellent story telling. The story was how Rollins overcame the odds to defeat the Beast because Lesnar is not the kind of champion the Brand needs. Lesnar early on in the match was absolutely crushing Rollins and one of the scary and cool moments was when Lesnar grabbed the tape that was around Rollins’ ribs and was throwing Rollins around.

Despite all of this Rollins managed to get the upper hand with a couple stomps for the victory. Rollins was once again Universal Champion and everything was right in the world.

That is all for this edition of the Best Moments of PPV in 2019. I have managed to re-watch every show, from the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania, Money In The Bank and SummerSlam in this week to write about these moments and now there is only one Major show left that is Survivor Series. I am half-way through watching the Pay-Per-view and will be posting the best Moments of that very soon. See you all then.
