Disneyland's World of Color Dining Package
As a surprise for my niece's birthday I decided to treat her to a day at Disneyland with a dining package deal for World of Color. I personally have had this package before but I know for a fact that she has not only not experienced the package but has never seen World of Color. I thought it would be really fun and a really nice surprise. I was also super excited to take her to Ariel's Grotto because Ariel is one of her favorites!
Have you done a Disney World of Color dining package?
How To Make Reservations
In order to do the dining packages you must make a reservation. You can either make reservations through the hotel (if you are staying at a hotel) or you can call to make reservations through the number below. You cannot just walk into the restaurant and expect to receive the package. Be prepared to put a credit card number on file. They will not charge you and you do not get charged on this card at the end of your meal. They just want a card on file in case you don't show up to your reservation. If this does happen you are charged $10 per person.
You Have A Few Choices
Not every restaurant offers this deal. For California Adventure (World of Color package) you can choose between the Carthay Circle Restaurant, the Wine Country Trattoria, or Ariel's Grotto. If you are interested in the ones at Disneyland for Fantasmic you can choose from the Blue Bayou and the River Bell Terrace.

The Menu
You are given a three course meal which includes an appetizer, main entree, and a dessert. We went to Ariel's Grotto and received bread, a choice of soup or salad, we choose our own main entrees off of a menu, and were given a dessert sampler platter. Since I have a food allergy; when I made the reservations I let the reservationist know that I will need a gluten free option. They were more than happy to accommodate me and even took my name down so the waiter knows exactly who requires this option. Also since we were celebrating my niece's birthday early they made a note to bring out a special dessert with a candle. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess confirmed everything which was great!
Kids Menu
If you are dinning with a child that is under the age of 10 they are given a kids menu. The menu itself is inside of a little activity book and they are given a pack of crayons. The appetizer for the kids menu is veggie sticks with ranch, they get to choose their main entree, and are given a dessert sampler.
The Allergy Menu
So the menu I received was not just for gluten, it also included nuts, wheat, dairy, and a whole bunch of other things I can't remember. Underneath each menu item it specifies the allergy that it applies to. This was really neat because there were a lot of options for a lot of allergies. I didn't feel like my meal was inferior to anybody else's at the table. There were also two choices for dessert: raspberry sorbet and a fudge brownie. I was very impressed with the options and was super impressed that they even had fresh gluten free rolls for me.
What We Ordered
We all ordered different things and I wanted to share with you guys because it looked so pretty and tasted so good!
For our appetizers:
I ordered the tomato bisque soup and everyone else ordered a salad.
For our main entrees:
I ordered the honey whiskey bbq tri tip, my cousin ordered the lobster tail and tri tip, and my mom ordered the pork chop. My niece ordered the pasta off of the kids menu that came with a dinglehopper!
For dessert:
My mom and my cousin received the sampler plate which included a chocolate covered strawberry, a mini creme brule, and a gourmet smore. I ordered the raspberry sorbet.
For the birthday girl she received a kids dessert sampler plate which included a chocolate cupcake with a birthday candle, a chocolate chip cookie, a chocolate covered strawberry, and a jello cup with whipped cream.
When Do You Get The World Of Color Passes?
You receive your passes at the end of the meal when the bill comes. Also at the end of the meal, if you are a pass holder, you can present your annual pass and you will receive a discount for your meal.
My Overall Experience
As I stated before this was a surprise for my niece. She had no idea we were going to Disneyland, doing dinner, or seeing World of Color. This was an early celebration because her birthday is in September but she goes back to school in early August. We knew we had to do it in her summer break because of her school schedule. Unfortunately by the time we made it to dinner she was tired, hot, and starving. Not a good combination for a nine-year-old. Regardless she still enjoyed going to a place she hadn't been too before; especially since it was Little Mermaid themed (one of her favorites). We had a very little wait time until we headed downstairs into the restaurant. On the way down the spiral staircase there was a gorgeous view of Paradise Pier.
Once we were downstairs we were seated outside. When I came before I was seated inside and was a little disappointed that we were outside. Don't get me wrong, outside is great but inside was air-conditioned and really cutely decorated. Everyone else was super excited about being outside because we were right on the water and had a really nice unobstructed view of the pier. As their excitement grew, so did mine. We actually got very lucky with the weather because it wasn't as hot as it normally is this time of year.
The food was amazing and we all were extremely full by the time dessert rolled around. This is a gourmet meal but they do not skimp on the portions. I think that it is a great price for how much you get and the quality of food. Everyone was so happy about what they ordered and loved this experience. My only regret was not ordering the brownie. I wish I had so I could have taken it to go and munched on it while waiting for World of Color.
World Of Color
With the dining package you get premier seating for World of Color. The seats are amazing! You cannot get closer unless you are in a boat in the water. I love getting this seating during the summer because you do get wet. Now, it's not like a water ride wetness. It's more of a constant misting with some rain every once in a while. I enjoyed it, my cousin did not because she is not a fan of getting wet. My niece had never seen world of color before and she loved it, especially getting wet. She was dancing in the rain the whole time.
