Updated on July 26, 2010

Spanish Businessmen to buy Paul, the octopus

Spanish Businessmen had a plan to buy the German octopus Paul which had ‘correctly’ predicted the result of World Cup football final match. The octopus ate from the plate with Spanish flag which meant that Spain will defeat Nederland in final match. Earlier the octopus had predicted the result of Germany’s matches in world cup football including the semifinal and loser’s final.

Spanish Businessmen had put a price of more than 30000 Euro (20000 lakh rupees for this octopus. They wish to make Paul as the lucky symbol of annual festival of Carbalino near Orenz in North West Spain. They wish to exploit the publicity that Paul gained through world cup and to utilize it effectively to attract people attention. This idea was put forward by the mayor Karlos Montaz.

At present Paul , the octopus is kept in Sea life aquarium of Obarhozen in Germany. Paul is two years old. The Spaniards wish to bring the octopus on loan basis if the German owners of the octopus are not willing to sell Paul.
