FIFA World Cup Football 2010 - Spain V/s Nederland (Final)

Updated on July 11, 2010

Spain is the new FIFA World Cup Football 2010 champions.

The last smile at Soccer city stadium was of Spaniards. In the historic final match Spain defeated Nederland by  a solitary extra time goal. The goal was scored by Andre Iniesta at the 27th minute of extra time of the match..

The soccer city stadium was really houseful with no place for a needle. The Vuvuzelas were sounding their last whistles. Every African was enjoying the last moments of the world cup football carnival that has been going on for a month. As expected the final match was a tight match for both the teams. But at last orange shirts have to surrender before bullfighters. When Icar Casseus raised the FIFA Gold Cup for the world football champions it became a new history. Euro champions Spain created history by winning the world title too.

Spain had predicted the final result of the carnival by defeating the superb Germany in Semfinal. Those who didn’t mind it then, soon realized it when they entered the finals.

Actually Spain started this world cup by a stunning defeat by Switzerland. But from game to game they improved and finally reached final of this FIFA World Cup. Nederland hadn’t tasted any defeat since their qualifying matches to this world cup. It was Brazil in 1970 which won the World Cup Football through such a triumph. Spaniards created history by facing failure in first match and then emerging as World Champions.

Nederland got many open chances in the match. But none of them cannot be converted to  goals. Robben was main to waste many of them. Similarly in Spain line up David Viyya wasted many chances. The play was full of fouls and referee has to show 12 yellow cards and one red card.

In 4th minute itself Spain declared their idea through Sergi Ramos’s header to goal post. But it went out by inches. In 10th minute again Ramos fired. It also went out. In very next minut also
