Fun Things to Do When Camping

Updated on January 10, 2021

If you like camping there are a lot of things to do. It is very good and refreshing to sleep outdoors and to get away from the hassle of the daily grind. Also you have plenty of time for entertainment and leisure while camping. You can try new activities or you can go back to your hobbies you used to love.

In this article I will give you some ideas about the things that you should do while camping:

  • Water Activities

If you set your camp near a lake, pool, river or other body of water there are plenty of exciting things that you can try in the water. Some of those things are very active while others are for lazy relaxing days. So jump in your bathing suit and have some fun in the water. Here are some interesting things to do in the water: skipping stones, fishing, swimming, floating or lounging, canoeing or kayaking, boating, water skiing, tubing, wave runners, water volleyball, diving or snorkeling.

Even if you aren’t near the water you can still play with water. You should try these fun suggestions which are great for cooling off on hot days: have a water balloon fight, attack each other with squirt guns, bring inflatable wading pool and fill it with water, line a truck bed with a tarp and fill it with water for a makeshift pool.

  • Sports and Physical Activities

There are plenty of sports and physical activities that you should try while camping. There are sports that you can try which are not involving a lot of physical movement and or you can try some sports that are very active. I will give you some options from you can choose: horseshoes, disc golf, ring toss, corn hole, soccer, lawn bowling, football, bikes, hiking, capture the flag, hide and seek, sardines, red rover.

  • Play Games

For rainy days I will recommend to play some indoor games. These games are entertaining and promote family bonding and cooperation.

Card games are ideal for those days when you are restrained in your tent because of the weather. You should bring a deck of normal cards and you can play a variety of games such as, Uno, Phase 10, Rook, Old Maid, Five Crowns and Apples to Apples.

You can also try Charades or I Spy which are great because you don’t have to bring anything with you to play them. Another suggestion is to bring paper and a pencil and you can play Hangman, Tic-Tac-Toe and Dots.
