Let’s Play Knokkers. A New Sport Has Been Invented!

Updated on October 29, 2011

This time I want to write something light but it still nice to be followed. The first time I saw this informations, this could be a great hub. Not all of us knew this information. I want to write about unique sport. If you liked something unique, you are in the right place. Actually I am rather confused to classify this, between sport or kind of games. But most of people classify this with sport categories. So I’ll follow them. I have a question for you. Have you ever tried to play billards? Or have you ever try bowling before? If you ever tried biilards, you may know this sport from the appearance. But if you ever tried bowling, you may familiar how to throw the ball to knock down some pins in front of you.  But if you never tried both of these sports before, you will find something enjoyable between billards and bowling. Personally, I never played both of these sports before. But I hope this hub useful for you to add you references about other sports. Curious… please continued to read!

This sport called knockers. What is knokkers actually? Knokkers is a new sport that combines two elements of bowling and billiards. Knokkers was played on the table four times the size of normal billiard table. We can see the appearance from the pictures below looks like billiard table. But it’s bigger than normal billiard table.

This game is so different with other game, I mean for bowling and billyards. If billyards you need a stick to hit the ball but you don’t need any sticks at this game. But you must use your hands to throw the ball. You also don’t need several pins like in bowling game. By using the ball like bowling we hit others ball like billiards on the table with size 15 x 30 feet. The regulation is like common pool game. If we want to play this game, we have to follow the rules of 8-ball billiards. For you who love billiards wouldlove this game. But we need more power to throw the ball. It’s like we play bowling. Once you have touched the ball, you can't move until you’ve taken the shot. But if you have long arm it made you easier to play this sport.

Who is the person behind this game or this sport? Beginning in 1985, Steve Wienecke, from Fredericktown, Missouri, a former local football player who worked as an assistant parole who is also an inventor in his spare time has a great idea of knokkers. It looks crazy idea to make a giant pool table like something come up from his mind, but year after year had passed by until finally in 2008 he could realize his dreams. At that year, Steve started working to realize his idea. His wife thought he was crazy, but after seeing his idea began to form. She gave her husband motivation to realize his dream. And after 200 hours of hard work, finally knokkers table was complete. Steve also created a portable table made of plastic. It can transported anywhere.

I get new information about knokkers website. I don’t know this site belongs to Steve or not. From this site, knokkers usually playable in malls, bars, hotels, arcades, venues, parties and homes. If you want to know more about this game or you want to rent a knokkers’ table, you can visit http://www.knokkers.com for detail and more information. It also said that this game was safe, fast-faced, and entertaining for others to watch.

I hope by reading this hub we can get some motivation in doing the best for us. And we can learn how to achieve our dream. I know we need a lot of work to achieve this. This is not “Aladin story” where we can rub the teapot and we get everything we want. There is no genie in this case that can help us. We only need passion, hard work, prayer and a little of “luck” factor. If Steve can make this, I believe we can also make better one…amen. So, want to play with knokkers?
