The Boxer Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao - World's Greatest
Introducing Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao -- The world best fighter of his generation
This hub is dedicated to the man who give so much pride to his country -- The Philippines and his fellowmen -- the Filipino people. Dubbed by his promoter, Bob Arum as "The best fighter I have ever seen," including Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. He is fondly called “Pacman” because he is like a lightning and his fast punches sow fear among his opponents.
Boxing is considered dead in the recent past, but not in this time when Pacquiao is still playing as Mark Kriegel (National Columnist for FOXSports.com) said “Actually, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that boxing isn't dead. Rather more astonishing is the identity of its latest, greatest savior: an undersized Filipino who barely speaks English”.
He is the only fighter who won in seven weight divisions in world boxing history prompting Matthew Syed (Sports Journalist of the Year and 2008 Sports Feature Writer of the Year) to say that he is “the greatest boxer and is among the finest and most ferociously gifted boxers to have laced a pair of gloves”.
Last Sunday (November 15, 2009) was another crowning glory to the much talked about Manny Pacquiao who took the boxing world at awe when he successively win all of his fights in seven different weight divisions. He knocked out Miguel Cotto on that day in 12th round, which prompted Cotto to say “I couldn’t attend such conference because I needed to be checked by doctors but I wanted the media to know I fought the best fighter I ever fought."
From, Barrerra, Hatton, Marquez and now Cotto, he all won and fight like a true “Pacman“. Everybody in the boxing world is anticipating his fight next year to Mayweather which prompted Mark Kriegel to say “A match-up between Pacquiao and the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr next year would not only be the richest bout in history, it would also make all other recent “super-fights” seem like irrelevant”. and he added that “the list of parties who've contacted promoter Bob Arum in hopes of hosting a mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather include the Yankees and the Mets, the Jets and the Giants, the Cowboys, a consortium of Nevada businessmen, and a former Presidential advisor“. Then there's Texas, with no state income tax, and a stadium that holds up to 111,000 for football. And don't forget Las Vegas, where Arum says he has a group willing to build a makeshift outdoor stadium to seat 30,000.
The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight next year will definitely be dubbed as "The Fight of the Century".
